If you haven’t already heard the buzz, The Housemaid is officially a monster hit. It has already cleaned up at the box office to the tune of $350 million worldwide, and if you missed the theatrical chaos, don’t worry—you can finally obsess over it from your own couch.
Based on Freida McFadden’s viral “stay-up-all-night” novel, the film is currently #1 on Prime Video and Apple TV. But for collectors, mark your calendars: it’s coming to Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD!
The Story: “Picture-Perfect” is a Trap
Millie (Sydney Sweeney) is a girl with a messy past just looking for a fresh start. She thinks she’s hit the jackpot when she’s hired as a live-in maid for the ultra-wealthy, glamorous Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar) Winchester.
But as anyone who has lived through a thriller knows, “glamorous” usually translates to “completely unhinged.” Between Nina’s erratic mood swings and a house that feels like it’s watching her, Millie quickly realizes that the mahogany doors are hiding some truly dangerous secrets. It’s a sexy, seductive game of power where nobody is actually the “good guy.”
A Comedy Legend Goes Dark
The most surprising part? This psychological rollercoaster was directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids). He’s traded the laughs for high-tension dread, and with a script by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys), the “shock factor” is turned up to eleven.
Amanda Seyfried has even promised fans that the movie stays totally loyal to the book:
“It captures everything fans loved—the secrets, the tension, and those massive twists.”
The Physical Release
If you want the best possible experience, Lionsgate is releasing an Amazon-exclusive 4K UHD Combo Pack on March 17, 2026, that looks stunning and includes special features!
The Special Features:
-
Audio Commentaries: Deep dives with Paul Feig and the creative team.
-
From Page to Panic: A behind-the-scenes look at adapting the bestseller.

For those of you who loved the movie, we’ve got good news: a sequel is already in the works. Not only is Sydney Sweeney expected to return as Millie, but she’s also back as an Executive Producer. The title reportedly will be The Housemaid’s Secret.
