If you are a fan of high-end international horror, you will want to put this on your radar immediately. South Korean powerhouse studio Barunson E&A—the geniuses who produced the Oscar-winning masterpiece Parasite—has officially boarded international sales for Inherit.
The film is the latest project from Thai master of horror Banjong Pisanthanakun, best known for directing the terrifying classics Shutter and The Medium.
Bloodlines and Bug Spirits
Inherit is an adaptation of the beloved 1991 Thai horror novel Tayat Asun, and the premise is pure nightmare fuel. The film follows a wealthy, elite family whose seemingly flawless, perfect façade begins to unravel violently. An ancient centipede spirit infiltrates their bloodline, proving that some family legacies are better left unclaimed.
Pisanthanakun revealed to ScreenDaily that this story has stuck with him since childhood: “At its core, it’s a story about power, legacy, and the darkness we inherit. It’s a Thai story but told with the scale and sophistication that international audiences crave.”
An Elite Team
Leading the cast is Davika Hoorne, who previously starred in the filmmaker’s massive horror hit Pee Mak and Thailand’s official Oscar entry A Useful Ghost. Thailand’s most successful film studio, GDH 559, is producing the psychological horror alongside Barunson E&A.
More to Come
As soon as more details surface, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, you can stream Parasite now on Prime Video and Fandango at Home. If you need a refresher, 2019’s Parasite sees greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan.
