Ryan Murphy’s flagship series “American Horror Story” is gearing up for its 13th season later this year, and they are taking the lucky (or deeply unlucky) number 13 very seriously. To celebrate the milestone, Murphy is assembling an absolute Avengers-level lineup of the show’s biggest legacy stars. And get this, it’s headlined by the supreme herself, Jessica Lange.
Lange’s return was made official after Ryan Murphy shared a first-look photo on Instagram with the caption: “American Horror Story, Season 13. Day One. The return of Jessica Lange!”
The Ultimate Gaslight
News of Lange’s involvement is a massive deal for fans. The iconic actress recently stated outright in interviews that she had no intention of being involved in Season 13. Clearly, she was playing coy and keeping the secret under wraps.
Lange was the undisputed cornerstone of the first four seasons of the FX anthology between 2011 and 2015. She took home two Primetime Emmys for her trouble. She briefly popped back in for a guest spot in 2018’s Apocalypse to reprise her original role as Constance Langdon, but this marks her first full-blown return to the main roster in over a decade.
The Powerhouse Cast
Murphy isn’t stopping with just one legend. He has loaded the ward with a staggering list of fan favorites, heavy hitters, and wild card guest stars:
Besides Lange, “AHS” royalty Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman are all returning! There are a couple of wild cards joining the cast: pop superstar Ariana Grande and cult filmmaking legend John Waters will co-star.
When Can We Watch?
True to “American Horror Story” tradition, the official theme and subtitle for Season 13 are still locked away. However, production is officially underway, and we can expect the nightmare to premiere just in time for Halloween 2026.
