If you’re building a horror movie cast, you might as well invite the woman who started cinema’s biggest sibling rivalry. Sandy Johnson, the original scream queen who played Judith Myers in John Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece Halloween, has officially joined the cast of the upcoming found-footage supernatural feature, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light.

Nearly fifty years after launching one of the biggest franchises in horror history, Halloween’s Johnson is trading the suburbs of Haddonfield for some seriously cursed woods.

Don’t Go Into the North Carolina Woods

Directed by Carissa Pierson, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light blends deep-woods terror and mixes it with found-footage realism. The film follows a paranormal investigation team. They aim to track down the bloody legacy of a centuries-old cult called The Children of the Hollow. However, their search leads them straight to a cursed lantern, an ancient evil, and many regrets.

A Seriously Eclectic Cast

Johnson isn’t the only familiar face wandering into the occult. The film’s lineup is an impressive mix of horror royalty, Hollywood veterans, and pop-culture icons. Johnson joins Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Andrew Pierson (A Soldier’s Descent), Nightmare on Elm Street’sLisa Wilcox, Kristina Lager (Last Sleepover), Kato Kaelin (American Manhunt: OJ Simpson), and Studio 54 DJ Rockin’ Ronni.

“A Truly Special” Addition

Director Carissa Pierson couldn’t be more thrilled to lock in a piece of horror history:

“We are honored to welcome Sandy Johnson to Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light. Her role in Halloween helped shape the horror genre and inspire generations of filmmakers and fans. Having her join our cast is truly special, and we cannot wait for audiences to see what she brings to this story.”

The Lanterne of Light is shaping up to be a fascinating bridge between the golden era of ’78 slasher lore and the modern world of found-footage occult terror.
