The team behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its upcoming sequel are out to ruin your childhood once more with their horror twist on the classic tale of the puppet who wants to be a real boy in Pinocchio: Unstrung.

This Pinocchio is all sharp edges and bone-chilling menace. The first glimpse of the titular puppet has surfaced (via Bloody-Disgusting) in the form of a sketch. It reveals a skeletal figure with spindly limbs, nailed shinbones, and a wide, toothy grin that stretches across his face like a nightmare come to life. The oversized, bulging eye only adds to the unsettling detail that is far from the whimsical character we all know and love.

But the terror doesn’t stop there. This isn’t just a one-off monstrosity – it’s the start of a cinematic universe of twisted childhood classics. Jagged Edge Productions is crafting a macabre world where Pooh stalks the woods, Bambi‘s world becomes a terror-filled nightmare, and even Peter Pan takes a turn toward the dark.

Casting and director announcements for Unstrung are imminent, with production set to begin this summer for a late 2024 theatrical release. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield has already hinted at potential crossovers within this twisted universe, with fans clamoring for a showdown between the bloodthirsty Pooh and the vengeful Bambi.

Whether you’re a horror aficionado or a nostalgic soul ready to confront your childhood demons, Pinocchio: Unstrung promises to be a bone-chilling experience. Brace yourself for the nightmares – the line between fairy tale and terror is about to blur in the most frightening way imaginable. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can watch Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey now on Prime Video, Peacock, and VUDU or own it on Blu-ray.
