Studio Dome has officially dropped the gripping first trailer for Hate Thyself. It’s a psychological thriller directed by Shivaan Makker and headlined by Oscar Torre (The Haves and the Have Nots). The film marks the last role by the late horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman).
Blending high-stakes serial killer investigation with an unsettling psychological tailspin, Hate Thyself centers on Detective Angelo Matteo (Torre). Angelo is a detective known for his rock-solid faith. However, he is pushed to the absolute brink when he and his partner, Rufus, are assigned to track a sadistic predator. As the body count escalates, Angelo is dragged into a twisted underworld where the boundary between justice and obsession rapidly evaporates.
Inspired in part by the chilling real-life crimes of serial killer Robert Berdella, the story dives deep into the psychological toll of confronting pure evil. Angelo’s pursuit unearths buried personal trauma, putting his sobriety, his marriage, and his moral compass on the line. What begins as a routine murder investigation quickly spirals into a dark exploration of guilt, faith, and human frailty.
“This film explores what happens when someone who sees the world in black and white is forced to confront the gray areas of human nature,” said director Shivaan Makker. “We wanted to tell a story that isn’t just about catching a killer, but about the emotional and spiritual toll that evil takes on those who dedicate their lives to fighting it.”
The Cast
Written by Sullivan McGuffin, the film features a strong supporting ensemble including Happy Anderson, Corin Nemec, and Deborah Rennard. Danforth Comins, Vincent Banks, Gary Brunner, Evan Daigle, and Christina Urias join the fray.
