As someone who was there when the clock chimed 12 on New Year’s 1999, I can vouch for the panic and fear felt by the world as we waited for the Y2K chaos to strike. That may be why I’m so excited about A24‘s new horror comedy Y2K, set to premiere this December.
The first trailer is here, teasing panic and gruesome deaths as a group of kids at a party are attacked by machines in brutal and bloody ways as Y2K struck the world.
This action-packed fun flick features a horde of familiar faces, including Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, Julian Dennison, The Kid Laroi, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.
Directed by Kyle Mooney (Zoolander 2), the movie Y2K sees two high school nobodies decide to crash the last major celebration before the new millennium on New Year’s Eve 1999. The night becomes even crazier than they could have ever dreamed when the clock strikes midnight, and the bodies begin to pile up.
Head to theaters on December 6th to witness Y2K strike and a party turn into a fight for survival. A horror movie like this only happens once in a millennium.
