Genre icon Ron Perlman has officially wrapped production on an upcoming suspense-driven horror feature titled Renew. The project reteams Perlman with his former “Sons of Anarchy” co-star Theo Rossi, alongside lead actress Rachelle Goulding. Directed by Tommy DeNucci and co-written by Rossi, the story begins as an intimate romance before descending into visceral terror.

A Secluded Montana Nightmare

The narrative follows a husband and wife who travel back to the secluded Montana guest ranch where they originally married. Hoping to renew their vows and leave past struggles behind, the couple seeks a fresh start. However, their idyllic getaway shatters when the wife mysteriously vanishes. As a result, the desperate husband must confront a hidden evil lurking beneath the ranch’s tranquil surface to save the person he loves.

Behind the Production and Cast

The creative team prioritized grounding the horror in a deeply authentic, emotional relationship between the central couple. Alongside Perlman, Rossi, and Goulding, the ensemble cast includes Ronnie Gene Blevins, Allison Dunbar, Sam Daly, Danny Rivera, and Rebecca Creskoff. Furthermore, Darko Ostojic, Bonnie Gayle Sparks, Barron Boedecker, and Chris Wilks round out the supporting lineup.

Iconic Creature Roles and Collaborations

Perlman’s defining horror work began with his decades-long partnership with Guillermo del Toro. He starred as the demon-born hero in Hellboy and its sequel. He brought brooding depth to the vampire thriller Blade II, and made an early impression in del Toro’s dark alchemy debut, Cronos. Later, he reteamed with the director for a key role in the psychological noir thriller Nightmare Alley. His latest role in a horror film was Stranglehold, which was released earlier this month.

More Collaborations on the Horizon

This horror feature is not the only project uniting the former co-stars. Perlman and Rossi are also set to appear alongside several “Sons of Anarchy” cast members, including Charlie Hunnam, in a separate meta-thriller titled Legends, which is a “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off. In that upcoming project, the actors play fictionalized versions of themselves as they face an unexpected threat at a fan convention. Meanwhile, official release dates for both Renew and Legends remain unannounced. But that’s just the beginning; according to IMDb, Perlman has eight projects in the works.
