Terrifier’s Art the Clown has officially run out of pumpkins and candy canes, so he’s moving on to the next logical step in his holiday-themed genocide: New Year’s Eve.

While updates on Terrifier 4 have been trickling out slower than Art’s victims trying to crawl to safety, writer/director Damien Leone finally dropped a meaningful bombshell regarding Art’s next (and potentially final) bloodbath.

New Year, New Body Count

Taking to Instagram, Leone shared a simple text-based image that confirmed the setting: “Terrifier 4 will take place around New Year’s Eve.”

Leone’s caption was even more direct: “No space. No Easter bunny. Art’s bringing in the New Year!”

While “around” implies the film might span a few days of holiday festivities, the core hook is clear. We’re trading the Silent Night for a very Loud Midnight. The potential for creative kills involving champagne bottles, countdown clocks, and those obnoxious “202X” glasses is, frankly, limitless.

Keeping It “Grounded” (Relatively)

Leone has been adamant about one thing: Art is not going to space. Sorry, Jason X fans, but Leone has no interest in jumping the shark (or the atmosphere) just yet. He also shot down rumors of an Easter-themed massacre.

While the idea of Art the Clown trading blows with a guy in a bunny suit has a certain “midnight movie” charm, Leone is opting for the high-energy chaos of a New Year’s party instead. Given how David Howard Thornton plays Art with such mime-like theatricality, a crowded party sounds like the perfect playground for a “bat-sh*t insane” performance.

The Road to the Finish Line

The Terrifier franchise has had one of the most impressive “glow-ups” in horror history. Art debuted in the low-budget anthology All Hallows’ Eve. But, Terrifier (2016) put him on the map. Then Terrifier 2 became the little engine that could (and did) make people faint in theaters. Terrifier 3 (the Christmas one) defied every industry expectation, proving that there is a massive market for practical effects and unrated carnage.

What We Know So Far

Leone has described the Terrifier 4 script as his most precious” and “most challenging” to date. Here’s what we can expect from the next installment:

Leone has hinted that this film will finally peel back the greasepaint to explore Art’s mysterious origins. And Thornton has promised the film will be “bat-sh*t insane,” which, coming from him, is saying a lot. With the script finalized earlier this year and pre-production reportedly moving into high gear this spring, we are likely looking at a 2026 or early 2027 release window.

Keep your party poppers close and your eyes peeled—it’s going to be a very messy countdown.
