Filmmaker Abner Pastoll is back to shatter nerves. He has officially landed the coveted Opening Night slot at Tubi FrightFest 2026 with his latest psychological thriller, Nervous.
Seven years after closing out the festival with his acclaimed hit A Good Woman Is Hard to Find, Pastoll makes a triumphant return to the Odeon Leicester Square for the film’s World Premiere on August 27.
A Terrifying Descent Into Silence
The story follows Sarah (Sarah Bolger) and her husband Sungsoo (Sungsoo Yune). They relocate to a remote house in the South Korean countryside in a desperate bid to rescue their crumbling marriage. However, their fresh start takes a sinister turn when they uncover an unmarked vinyl record that plays absolute silence.
After dropping the needle, Sarah’s perception of the world violently fractures. She progressively loses the ability to hear men’s voices. Completely isolated from her husband, Sarah soon finds herself drawn to their enigmatic neighbor, Eunbyeol (Ko Asung). However, their raw, intoxicating presence pushes her deeper into a web of paranoia, hallucinations, and dangerous desire.
A Powerhouse Cast and Creative Team
Reuniting with Pastoll after her powerhouse turn in A Good Woman Is Hard to Find, Sarah Bolger anchors the nightmare. She is joined by Korean cinema icon Ko Asung (The Host, Snowpiercer) and rising star Sungsoo Yune (Smugglers).
Written and directed by Pastoll, with co-writer Richard Hobley, the Korean-UK co-production is from February Films and Story Robot. It was shot entirely on location in and around Seoul. Pastoll and Junyoung Jang produce the film, which features a haunting original score by Matthew Pusti.
The Global Festival Circuit Begins
Nervous won’t stay confined to London for long. Immediately following its London debut, the psychological chiller will embark on an international festival run. Next, it will be touching down at Lisbon’s MOTELX on September 4. Then, it is heading to Germany’s Fantasy Filmfest on September 7. Get your tickets now.
