Over the past few days, a sci-fi thriller, Subservience, starring Megan Fox, has taken hold on Netflix. It is currently ranked number one after first premiering in September. It is followed by Transformers at number 10, which also stars Fox.
Fox (Jennifer’s Body) stars in Subservience as Alice, a lifelike, AI android who can take care of any family and home. Looking for help with the housework, a struggling father (Michele Morrone) purchases Alice after his wife becomes sick. Alice suddenly becomes self-aware and wants everything her new family has to offer, starting with the affection of her owner – and she’ll kill to get it.
Madeline Zima stars alongside Fox and Morrone in this twisted tale that may make you think twice about technology. Will Honley and April Maguire penned the script.
During our interview with director S.K. Dale, who also directed Till Death starring Fox, he discussed the film’s story, the cast, his goal of making the film “feel as real as possible,” and the very real potential threat that AI can pose. Watch the interview here.
