Uncork’d Entertainment has announced that the postpartum horror film MOM will be released in select theaters this February before arriving on digital and VOD platforms.
Starring Emily Hampshire, known for her acclaimed role in “Schitt’s Creek,” MOM made its world premiere at Glasgow FrightFest in 2024. It received praise for its haunting exploration of motherhood, postpartum depression, and psychological trauma.
The film delves into the psychological torment of a struggling mother, played by Hampshire. She faces abandonment by her family and partner after a horrific incident. She descends deeper into isolation and depression. A sinister entity begins to haunt her, forcing her to confront the darkest corners of her mind. Will she overcome the horrors that haunt her, or will her past consume her entirely?
Directed by Adam O’Brien and written by Philip Kalin-Hajdu, MOM also stars François Arnaud (Marlowe) and Christian Convery (Cocaine Bear). Delirium Pictures and Kinetic Film Group are producing.
Here’s a terrifying fact: studies report that one in ten women will suffer postpartum depression, which lasts an average of three months and, in some cases, years. New mothers with postpartum depression have symptoms like anxiety, anger, paranoia, and delusions. In some terrifying cases, they murder their children or family or commit suicide. If you or someone you know is suffering from postpartum depression, please seek help.
The chilling horror film MOM will be shown in theaters beginning February 7 and on digital or VOD starting February 11.
