Matthew Lillard, synonymous with some of horror’s most memorable moments, is in talks to join forces with a modern genre master. Deadline reports that Lillard is in talks to join “Carrie,” the new series from the one and only Mike Flanagan. Flanagan, known for his chilling adaptations of Stephen King’s works, is taking on another iconic tale of terror. While the specifics of Lillard’s potential role are still shrouded in mystery, the prospect sends excitement down horror fans’ spines.

Together Again

This wouldn’t be the first time the talented Flanagan and Lillard have teamed up to bring King’s nightmares to life. The duo recently wrapped production on another King adaptation, The Life of Chuck, which won the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival.

Carrie White

Details about the “Carrie” series are currently scarce. However, reports suggest that it will offer a fresh “reimagining” of the classic story of Carrie White. For those unfamiliar, Carrie is a shy, bullied teenage girl who discovers she possesses powerful telekinetic abilities. As she navigates the horrors of high school and the control of her religious mother, her powers reach a boiling point.

As for the rest of the main cast, newcomer Summer H. Howell steps into the challenging role of Carrie White, while Siena Agudong will portray Sue Snell, a character who plays a pivotal role in Carrie’s tragic story.

A Busy Man

Lillard has been busy lately. He’s known for classics like Scream and Scooby Doo. However, he also had a recent and memorable appearance in Five Nights at Freddy’s, whose sequel he’s returning for. He’s also joined the second season of Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” and Amazon MGM’s “Cross.” Furthermore, he’s attached to the highly anticipated Scream 7, solidifying his continued presence in the horror landscape.

The potential addition of Matthew Lillard to Flanagan’s “Carrie” series only amplifies the anticipation surrounding this project. Flanagan’s proven ability to craft terrifying adaptations and Lillard’s undeniable talent could be a match made in horror heaven.
