Horror hounds and trivia titans, prepare for a game show experience to die for! This Friday, May 2nd, the hotly anticipated horror trivia game show “Better Luck than Chuck” is making its grand debut with its premiere episode at none other than SeriesFest 2025! As part of their Late Night Competition, the festival is giving the world its first look at the pilot episode of this seriously high-concept show, whose initial six-episode season is currently on the hunt for a network or streaming home.

A Ghoulish Game

Meet The Widow, “Wittiest Witch of the Midwest,” and her not-so-lively husband Charlie, a sarcastic and hysterically deadpan corpse. This delightfully macabre duo has cordially invited all you horror fanatics into their creepy basement to compete in “Better Luck than Chuck,” a ghoulish game show guaranteed to test the limits of your fright flick knowledge!

Better Luck than Chuck” throws a variety of horror-themed topics at its contestants, all chosen by the brave souls willing to face “The Widow” But here’s the twist: each category takes an entertainingly unique and often twisted angle on the traditional question-and-answer format, ensuring that this isn’t your run-of-the-mill trivia night.

True Love Never Dies… Right?

The backstory of our charming hosts is a horror story in itself (in the best way, of course). Many moons ago, “The Widow” decided that her dear husband Charlie was cramping her style. So she did what any self-respecting witch of the Midwest would do – she poisoned him! But her love never truly faded, so she’s kept Charlie’s slowly decomposing body in their basement ever since. Norman Bates would be so proud of this level of commitment! Using a touch of her signature witchy magic, The Widow brought Charlie back to life… sort of.

Unsurprisingly, Charlie isn’t exactly thrilled to have cheated death. He has a bone to pick (pun intended!) with his beloved wife. As a result, the two bicker and banter like… a morbid old married couple, all while a rotating cast of horror geniuses from all walks of life battle it out for prizes, fleeting fame, and the show’s epic grand prize. Witty, colorful, and endlessly entertaining, “Better Luck than Chuck” is shaping up to be the terrifying trivia game show that the die-hard horror fan in all of us has been waiting for!

Better Luck than Chuck” stars the talented Alexis Allotta as “The Widow.” She is joined by the hilariously deceased Adam Michaels as Charlie, alongside rotating trios of horror experts from every corner of the genre. Featured contestants in the series’ pilot episode, which you can catch this Friday, include filmmaker Jesse James Hennessy, the University of Michigan PhD candidate Kristin Leer, and the Sirius XM radio host Jose Mangin.

Killer Prizes

This delightfully demented series is brought to you by producers Tony Wash, Meredith Tummillo, Sarah Sharp, and Robert Patrick Stern. The show has also snagged some seriously awesome prize sponsors, including Fright Rags, Severin Films, Trick or Treat Studios, the vinyl vultures at Terror Vision Records and Video. Prizes also come from  Cavity Colors, Terror Films, and the Chattanooga Film Festival. But that’s not all, prizes also come from Burning Witches Records, Panic Fest, the caffeinated connoisseurs at Springheel’d Jack Coffee, Adam’s Art Box, and the spookily stylish folks at Dark Soles Shoes. Adding to the horror cred, the official media partner for “Better Luck than Chuck” is Bloody Disgusting. And what exactly is the grand prize for the first season? Only a vacation package to the legendary Universal Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood or Universal Orlando Resort.

So, if you happen to be in the Denver area, don’t miss your chance to witness the world premiere of the pilot episode of “Better Luck than Chuck” this Friday, May 2nd, at 8:00 PM MST at Denver’s Sie FilmCenter (located at 2510 East Colfax Avenue) as part of SeriesFest 2025‘s Late Night Competition. Get ready for laughs, scares, and a lot of horror trivia that will surely be dead on!
