In the dying days of the American frontier, inheritance isn’t a silver spoon—it’s a target on your back. Mad Cave Studios has unveiled CLOVEN. It is a new original series that proves some family legacies are better left unclaimed.

Dan Panosian’s (Slots) story was brought to life by the art of David Ferracci (Monsterverse). The series is a grim, dust-choked descent into a world where the only thing more dangerous than the landscape is the people.

 A Trail of Rot

June Buckley’s father was a monster in life, and his death hasn’t exactly improved his reputation. June is summoned alongside a group of heirs to claim her inheritance. But there’s a catch: she has to survive the brutal trail that built her father’s empire first.

As if the treacherous “family” wasn’t enough, June discovers Hendido—a creature tethered to her father’s past. This suggests the Buckley legacy is rooted in something much older and far more wicked than simple greed.

The Creative Posse

Mad Cave has assembled a powerhouse team to bring this “Weird West” nightmare to life: David Ferracci provides the cinematic grit, with colors by Lee Loughridge (G.I. Joe) and lettering by Pat Brosseau (Aquaman). Expect stunning variants from Panosian, Jacob Phillips, Mark Chiarello, and Travis Charest.

From the Creators

“The ‘old west’ was a dangerous place… I took a journey down a dark and dusty trail where only the brave and foolhardy dare travel. I recommend you pack a blanket and a pistol if you care to join me.” — Dan Panosian

Artist David Ferracci describes the series as a “Hitchcock bomb.” It is a slow-burning tension builder in which the reader knows from page one that everything will eventually explode. By mixing the vast emptiness of the Western genre with the claustrophobic dread of Gothic horror, Cloven promises a unique brand of suspense.

Cloven Issue #1 Hits Shelves on July 29, 2026. For more updates, you can stalk Mad Cave Studios (and their imprints like Papercutz and Maverick) on social media.

With Cloven hitting this July, are you ready to see if June Buckley can survive her father’s dark history, or are you just here for the creature reveals?
