If you’ve ever looked at a dark tree line and thought, “I should definitely stay inside,” Terror Films Releasing has a new reason to validate your forest phobia. Brandon Hartsock’s found footage thriller, House at the Edge of the Woods, is officially set to arrive this May.

The film follows a grieving man who returns to his childhood home to reconnect with his father. Naturally, since this is a horror movie, the father has already vanished into the local timber. When the police give up the search, the son begins hearing things—strange, nocturnal things—that suggest Dad didn’t just wander off for a pack of cigarettes.

Desperate for answers, he hires a crew of paranormal investigators. House at the Edge of the Woods is composed entirely of the “recovered footage” from their ill-fated search.

Eight Days, Eight People, One Creepy House

Director Brandon Hartsock isn’t just making a movie; he’s exorcising some childhood demons. According to Hartsock, the film was inspired by his own experience growing up in—you guessed it—a house at the edge of the woods.

The production was a lean, mean, indie machine. Filming took just eight days, with a crew of only eight people. Hartsock is making it clear that eight is his favorite number.

“Despite the limited resources,” Hartsock says, “I believe this film distinguishes itself within the found footage genre through its innovative approach.”

Starring Dulvlu Spa, Josiah Miller, Madeline Lootens, and Giovanni Accettola, the film promises a “truly terrifying conclusion.” One that might make you think twice about your next camping trip.

House at the Edge of the Woods will be available across digital platforms starting May 15. In the meantime, Terror Films Releasing has dropped the official poster and trailer to give you a head start on the nightmares.
