If the name Ridley Scott is on the poster, you usually expect xenomorphs or gladiators. But for his next act, the legendary filmmaker is trading deep space for the deep end of a suburban backyard.

Inground, the upcoming horror flick produced by Scott’s banner, has officially locked in its leads: horror veteran Alexandra Daddario (Mayfair Witches), the versatile Kyle Gallner (Smile), and Raul Castillo (Smile 2), according to Deadline.

A DIY Project from Hell

We’ve all heard of “money pits,” but this is ridiculous. The story follows a father attempting to navigate the choppy waters of a divorce. In a desperate bid to bond with his young son, he decides to build a backyard swimming pool.

What starts as a wholesome bonding project quickly takes a macabre turn. While details on the “nightmare” are still under wraps, we’re betting it involves something much scarier than just hitting a utility line or a high contractor’s fee.

A Gemini Reunion

The film marks a creative homecoming for Cho and director Aaron Katz. The duo previously worked together on the 2017 neon-drenched thriller Gemini. Katz is directing from a screenplay by Dan Dworkin, and having a heavy hitter like Daddario—who practically has a PhD in supernatural tension—certainly doesn’t hurt the film’s “scream-cred.”

Why It Matters

While Sir Ridley Scott is busy with his own massive directorial slate, Inground proves he still has an eye for elevating indie-leaning talent. By pairing Katz’s atmospheric direction with bankable stars like Daddario and Gallner, Scott is positioning this “backyard bloodbath” to be a major standout in the 2026 horror calendar.

Cameras have already begun rolling on the film that sees suburban dread meet psychological trauma. We’ll update you when more details surface.
