Following yesterday’s reveal of the opening scene of Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, an exclusive new featurette titled “Peace in Violence” offers a raw glimpse into the upcoming action thriller. The film kicks off its theatrical run in New York and Los Angeles next Friday, then expands to a nationwide release.

A Devout Hitman’s Relentless Mission

Written and directed by Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli), the story follows Mahershala Ali as a devoutly religious hitman. He’s forced to fight his way across Houston to safeguard his children after the tragic loss of his wife. Intertwining deep family drama and existential grief with high-intensity action, the role marks a physical, career-defining shift for Ali. Swapping quiet prestige drama for heavy artillery and close-quarters combat, he anchors the film as an unstoppable force.

Breaking Free From Corporate Delays

The project’s history makes its release particularly satisfying for genre enthusiasts. Marvel Studios initially tapped Tariq in 2021 to direct Ali in Blade, but Tariq exited the production in 2022 amidst ongoing studio delays. Rather than remaining in development limbo, the director and star joined forces independently to craft a brutal, grounded thriller that trades superhero spectacle for unfiltered real-world grit.

A Stellar Supporting Ensemble

While the new preview centers on Ali’s lethal patriarch, the surrounding cast features an impressive array of talent. That includes Giancarlo Esposito (The Boys), John Cho (Star Trek), Tramell Tillman (Severance), and Tiffany Boone (Hunters). The ensemble is completed by Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Adia, and Jahleel Kamara.

Though Amazon MGM has kept character details closely guarded, pairing veteran performers like Esposito and Cho with a high-stakes hitman narrative sets up an exceptional lineup of allies and adversaries.

Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother arrives in theaters on September 25, with tickets available now.
