Ten years after terrifying audiences and becoming a cult phenomenon, the original Hell House LLC is heading to major movie theaters nationwide for the first time. Terror Films Releasing has joined forces with Iconic Events Releasing to bring writer-director Stephen Cognetti’s acclaimed found-footage horror film to silver screens nationwide. The special limited engagement will run for four nights, from October 29 through November 1, 2026.
From Independent Discovery to Modern Horror Landmark
Written and directed by Cognetti and produced by Joe Bandelli, Hell House LLC originally debuted on digital platforms on November 1, 2016. Over the past decade, the film has transformed into a quintessential found-footage entry. It ultimately launched a sprawling, successful franchise.
Critically celebrated for its atmosphere and execution, Hell House LLC earned a spot at No. 7 on Entertainment Weekly’s list of the best found-footage movies ever made. The outlet commended its ability to make creepy clowns genuinely terrifying. GQ hailed the project as a masterclass in economical storytelling and brilliantly constructed scares. The film’s massive success paved the way for four sequels and a director’s cut. The franchise includes The Abandon Hotel, Lake of Fire, Origins, and 2025’s Hell House LLC: Lineage.
A Nationwide Celebration of Cult Horror
While the original film previously enjoyed sporadic seasonal screenings at select venues like Alamo Drafthouse and IFC Center, this October marks the first time fans nationwide can experience the horror.
Fred Santos, Senior Vice President of Iconic Events Releasing, expressed excitement over bringing the milestone release to theaters. He noted that sharing the foundational film on the big screen on Halloween marks the ultimate 10th-anniversary celebration.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hell House LLC by bringing the film to
theaters nationwide for the first time,” said Fred Santos, SVP of Distribution at Iconic Events
Releasing. “Over the past decade, Hell House LLC has grown into an incredible franchise, and
the film that started it all remains one of the most terrifying and unsettling entries in the found-
footage genre. Bringing this modern horror classic to the big screen just in time for Halloween
feels like the perfect way to celebrate its 10th anniversary.”
Overcoming Genre Skepticism Ten Years Later
The theatrical release represents a long-awaited victory for the film’s distributors. Terror Films CEO Joe Dain recalled that when the company initially tried to push for a wide theatrical release a decade ago. However, industry insiders repeatedly insisted that the found-footage genre was dead. Dain noted that bringing the original 2016 classic to theaters across North America fulfills a decade-long ambition. One that gives the movie the big-screen platform it always deserved.
