A chilling new true-crime thriller, Green River Killer, is officially in post-production. The film chronicles the decades-long hunt for notorious serial killer Gary Ridgway. David Arquette (Scream) and Nick Stahl (Sin City), are headlining an impressive ensemble cast, Deadline reports.

Green River Killer is set against thebackdrop of the Pacific Northwest in the early 1980s. The story focuses on two conflicted detectives, played by Arquette and Stahl. They descend into the murky depths of an investigation that will define their careers and relentlessly haunt their lives as they pursue a predator who blends seamlessly into everyday life—a man who is both no one and everyone. The line between justice and obsession blurs, revealing the true cost of confronting pure evil.

The Green River Killer was the media name given to Gary Leon Ridgway. He is the infamous U.S. serial killer convicted of murdering forty-nine women between 1982 and 1998. At the time of his 2001 arrest, Ridgway was considered the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history. Most of his victims were sex workers and other women in highly vulnerable circumstances.

The feature recently wrapped production across Washington State and Idaho. Johnny J. Tabor (Winter: Battleground) directed the film from an original screenplay written by Timothy Michael Hayes (Mary).

The talented supporting cast includes Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men), Rainey Qualley (Shut In), Julie Ann Emery, Robert Belushi, Kevin Makely, Lew Temple, and Costas Mandylor. Mitchell Bourke will also portray notorious killer Ted Bundy in the film.

Jeffrey Decker produced the project and executive-produced it with Vasilios Viores, marking a co-production between Viores’ Macova Media and Decker’s Ave One Entertainment.

Director Johnny J. Tabor shared the inspiration behind tackling such a sensitive and long-lasting case:

“What drew me to this story was how long it haunted those who lived it. For twenty years, investigators carried the weight of a case that seemed endless, refusing to let it be forgotten. I wanted to tell this story not to glorify a killer, but to honor the men and women who never gave up and to bring justice to those who no longer had a voice.”
