If you think wedding planning is stressful, Netflix’s upcoming horror series is about to make your cold feet feel like a walk in the park. Produced by the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things), “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” is officially assembling a killer cast for its trip down the aisle.
The Plot: A Wedding from Hell
The show follows a bride (Camila Morrone) and a groom (Adam DiMarco) during the week leading up to their wedding. As the title suggests, this isn’t a “happily ever after” situation. While details are under wraps, we know the nuptials are ill-fated. Things quickly begin spiraling into a twisted nightmare that goes way beyond a ruined cake.
An A-List Ensemble
The supporting cast includes Jennifer Jason Leigh (Annihilation) and Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs). They are joined by Gus Birney, Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, and Zlatko Burić.
The Creative Powerhouse
The Duffer Brothers aren’t the only heavy hitters here. The series is being spearheaded by Haley Z. Boston, who already has massive horror cred from writing on Brand New Cherry Flavor and Cabinet of Curiosities.
The Duffers admit they were “knocked flat” by her script, which they describe as twisted, terrifying, and funny. Weronika Tofilska (Baby Reindeer) will direct four episodes, with Axelle Carolyn (The Haunting of Bly Manor) also stepping behind the camera.
What Else is Upside Down Pictures Cooking?
While we wait for this “bad thing” to happen, the Duffer Brothers are staying incredibly busy. They’re working on “The Boroughs,” another original Netflix series set to begin production soon. The brothers are also working on “Death Note,” a live-action series adaptation of the iconic anime.
“Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” looks to be a standout in Netflix’s 2026 lineup, blending prestige drama with the Duffers’ signature love for all things macabre. We’ll keep you posted.
