Survival has never been this witty. Level 33 Entertainment has officially acquired the Sundance Midnight sensation, Didn’t Die. And get this, it’s from “The Walking Dead” director Meera Menon.

Fresh off its buzzy 2025 premiere, this “character-centric comedy” is already being hailed by critics. Variety calls it “enticing,” while Collider praises the film for forging its own “bloody path” by stripping the zombie genre down to its bare bones.

A Story of Grit and Global Collapse

Didn’t Die follows Vinita (Kiran Deol), a tenacious podcast host struggling to keep her show alive in rural America. The problem? Her audience is dwindling—mostly because zombies are eating them.

The film is a poignant exploration of the human spirit. For Menon, the project became deeply personal; just weeks after its Sundance premiere, her own home was lost in the Los Angeles wildfires.

“I’m drawn to the question of what still makes life worth living when everything else has come undone,” Menon shared. “Being an indie filmmaker right now feels like podcasting in the middle of a zombie apocalypse—this film is about the grit it takes to simply keep going.”

A Revolutionary, Family-Driven Set

Emmy-nominated actress and comedian Kiran Deol leads the cast, bringing a sense of “wry humor” to the apocalypse. The production was a tight-knit affair, filmed in upstate New York, where the cast lived together to build a sense of authentic community.

“Showcasing a South Asian family meant lots of dosas on set—which is a delicious way to make something revolutionary,” Deol noted, praising the collaborative environment Menon cultivated.

The impressive cast includes George Basil (Werewolves Within), Samrat Chakrabarti (The Sinner), Katie McCuen, Vishal Vijayakumar, Ali Lopez-Sohaili, and Kandis Erickson.

Coming Soon

Level 33 Entertainment CEO Andreas Olavarria describes the film as a “witty and poignant take” on the classic zombie flick. For those looking for a horror-comedy with a heartbeat, this is the one to watch.

Didn’t Die hits theaters on March 6, 2026. Here’s more good news: You can get your tickets now on Fandango.
