Guess who’s back? Two decades after Greg McLean first introduced us to the nightmare that is Mick Taylor, the outback’s most infamous hunter is returning to the screen. Production is officially underway in South Australia for the third installment of the franchise: Wolf Creek Legacy, Bloody-Disgusting reports. The site also shared the first image.
If you’re a fan of the original 2005 slasher or the follow-up series, you’ll be stoked to know that John Jarratt is once again stepping into the dusty boots of Australia’s most vicious fictional killer.
A Family Vacation Gone Wrong
This time around, the targets are an American family on what they thought was a dream trip through the rugged Australian outback. Naturally, they catch Mick’s eye, and things go south fast. The film mainly centers on the couple’s two children. The two have managed to escape the initial carnage. However, they find themselves hunted across the desert by the relentless legend himself.
The Team Behind the Terror
While Greg McLean (director of the original Wolf Creek and The Belko Experiment) is passing the director’s chair to South Australian Sean Lahiff (Carnifex), he’s staying heavily involved as a producer. He’s joined by a powerhouse production team including Kristian Moliere (The Babadook) and Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil).
Greg McLean is hyping this one up, too:
“Mick’s back… and the hunt is on. We’re thrilled to be bringing this Aussie horror icon back to the screen. I can’t wait for audiences to experience the next chapter—it’s bigger, darker, and more relentless than ever.”
The Cast & Crew
Jarratt isn’t the only talent on board. The cast is stacked with familiar faces and rising stars like Ditch Davey (Spartacus) and Laura Gordon (Late Night with the Devil). There’s also Stacy Clausen (Leviticus) and Maria Thattil (Empire City). Michael Teng will be making his acting debut.
The behind-the-scenes crew is equally impressive, featuring Prosthetics Designer Larry van Duynhoven (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga). So you can expect the kills to look disturbingly real.
Where to Watch
Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting have already locked down the North American distribution rights. Unlike much modern horror that goes straight to streaming, the plan here is a wide theatrical release. As soon as the release date is announced, we’ll update you. In the meantime, you can catch the movie franchise on Tubi and the series on Prime Video.
