Just when they thought they were out of the of the game of high-stakes exploring, Jade (Katherine Barrell) and Sam (Tim Rozon) are pulled back in when Dane (Maxiu, Baldry) issues one last challenge with a $100,000 prize.
Jade and Sam along with their team arrive at the location which so restricted it’s blacked out on Google. The remote wooded area soon reveals that a terrible secret lurks beyond its fences, a giant man-eating alligator. After their guide is killed and the other wounded, the team enters the mysterious facility in hope of finding a way out of the area, but all they find is more teeth.

Directed by Darrell Roodt (The Lullaby), the films prove that long-running franchises can survive if you go bigger and badder.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Lake Placid: Legacy. But when it all comes down to it, I enjoyed it. The plot was interesting and it will keep you on your toes. The special effects were good, but couldn’t compete with the original. After all, the original used a lot of practical effects and had a much bigger budget. There is a ton of gore, and it looked pretty realistic. I mean there were intestines, bodies ripped in half, wounds dripping blood, organs left in the dirt. It looked good. My only complaint is that the alligators looked fake, but heavy CGI has a tendency to look that way.
As far as acting goes, the main three cast members, Katherine Barrell, Tim Rozon, and Sai Bennett played their parts well. Rozon stands out, as he usually does. If you think he looks familiar that’s because he plays Doc Holliday on “Wynonna Earp”. He can pull off the look of intensity like few can. Barrel and Bennett play sisters and it was believable. I like that the women in the film show their individual types of strength through sacrifice, kicking ass, and ingenuity. And boy, do heads roll…in more ways than one.
The ending was a nice touch and I thought it was a fitting, but I’m not gonna tell you how it ends. I would hate to spoil it for you. You need to find out for yourself.
When it comes to Lake Placid: Legacy I’m going to give it 3 1/2 out of 5. It was a fun flick, but I found it a little hard to get past the look of the gators.
Sink your teeth into Lake Placid: Legacy, now out on DVD.
