Director Uli Edel’s latest feature Pay the Ghost, starring Nicholas Cage, is now out on DVD. This weekend I put on PJs, got comfy and turned on the film, not knowing exactly what to expect. I mean, let’s be honest, Nicholas Cage’s films have a hit or miss reputation these days. The Walking Dead‘s Sarah Wayne Callies plays the role of Mike Lawford’s (Cage) in the film about a couple’s young son who goes missing on Halloween. Cage plays the role of Mike, a collage professor, who seems to miss most of his young son’s moments. On Halloween he’s to late to take his son trick ‘r treating. He manages to convince his wife to let him take his son to the Halloween carnival down the street. Just after the boy asks if he can “Pay the Ghost”, Mike turns his back for moment and his son disappears. Fast forward to a year later when he starts seeing visions of

It’s a custom for families to build gingerbread houses during the holiday, but filmmakers Aaron and Austin Keeling took it a step further. They have recreated The Shining‘s Overlook Hotel and its grounds in an amazing four foot-long gingerbread house . The detail is amazing. The gingerbread house features multiple scenes from Stanley Kurbick’s 1980 film, based on Stephen King’s novel. The hotel is constructed out of gingerbread, icing, candy, fondant, lights, Rice Krispies and powdered sugar.

Back in May we reported that Sony had ordered the remake of 1996’s The Craft. News has come via THR that Leigh Janiak has been hired to both direct and pen the new script, along side Phil Raziadei. Doug Wick will be returning as a producer. There is no word yet who will star in the remake. Director Andrew Fleming and writer Peter Filardi did an amazing job on the original film. Robin Tunney (The Mentalist), Neve Campbell (Scream), Fairuza Balk (The Waterboy), Rachel True (Social Nightmare), Skeet Ulrich (Scream) and Christine Taylor (Tropic Thunder) made up the perfect cast for the film. I bind you Sony, from doing harm, harm against others and harm against the original movie.

Rob Zombie’s highly-anticipated film 31 will soon premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in January, followed by release on DVD later in the year. Part of the prep to get the film ready for theatrical release is for it to get its rating from the Motion Pictures Association of America. Two cuts were given for ranking. It’s not that surprising that because of its content, both versions scored a NC-17 rating. This means that unless some of the more controversial scenes are edited or cut, 31 will not be able to be shown in theaters. Zombie posted this comment on Facebook about the ranking: According to the MPAA, 31 contains “sadistic graphic violence, bizarre sexuality/nudity, pervasive disturbing images and some strong language.” Of course it does, it’s a Rob Zombie film. We have come to expect those things from Zombie. 31 follows a group of five carnival workers, kidnapped just before Halloween. The group is held in a compound

We first learned that the short film Lights Out would be adapted as a full length feature, written and directed by David F. Sandberg and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2) back in June. The film has now entered post-production and will be released by New Line in July of 2016. In the feature film, a boy and his estranged sister are stalked by an evil entity that can only be seen when the lights are out. Lights Out will star Warm Bodies actress Teresa Palmer , Emily Alyn Lind (The Haunting in Connecticut 2), Alicia Vela-Bailey (Interstellar), Amiah Miller (Trafficked), Gabriel Bateman (Annabelle), Andi Osho (Night and Day), and Alexander DiPersia (I Am Legend). There is a bit of a difference between the plot of the short film and the feature film, but with Wan producing I have no doubt it will be great. A trailer for the full film has not yet been released, but
