Osgood Perkins Adapting Horror Novel ‘A Head Full Of Ghosts”

Osgood Perkins has become a heavy hitter in the horror genre, delivering films like The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel, which just arrived in theaters. So, you may be wondering what’s next for Perkins. According to Bloody Disgusting, he’s next doing a loose adaptation of Paul G. Tremblay‘s A Head Full of Ghosts which won the 2015 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Novel. Stephen King said the novel, “Sacred the living hell out of me and I’m pretty hard to scare.” The plot of the novel involves an American family under strain when their fourteen-year-old daughter, Marjorie Barrett, exhibits signs of mental illness. The story is told from the point of view of Marjorie’s eight-year-old sister, Merry. The novel includes elements of Catholic exorcism and reality television exploitation. It’s certainly a script that I’m happy about. Whether or not that becomes a movie, you know how

We Want An Adaptation Of Mary Shelley’s “Too Dark” Novel ‘The Last Man’

Mary Shelley, known for her classic novel Frankenstein, wrote another less known novel, The Last Man, published in 1826. The novel was considered too dark for the time and was not reprinted until the 1960s. But with today’s love for horror, the tale would be a hit and is begging to be adapted. Called “a sickening repetition of horrors,” by one reviewer, the dystopian tale is set in 2100 in England. The people in the novel travel in ballons and the rest of the world is at peace, save for Greece and Turkey who are at war. Narrator, Lione Verney recounts the story of his life before becoming the last man alive after a plague sweeps the world. He witnesses the breakdown of society and the growth of doomsday cults as people struggle to find a cure for the plague, to uncover where it came from and what caused it. The Last Man was the first apocalyptic written in English

Last year The CW scrapped the Catherine Hardwicke directed pilot for its new series “The Lost Boys“. This week the network order the new retooled pilot directed by Marcos Siega, who also helmed the pilots for CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and Batwoman Deadline reports. The new version of the series, based on the 1987 classic, will have an all-new cast and will not feature original Lost Boys cast members Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro like the first version of the series planned. Rob Thomas, who co-wrote the new script, explained to Deadline the reason for the retooling. “There were scenes that we thought we could do a better job on, so it’s going through a 40% rewrite,” he said. “It’s not a total rewrite.” No cast members have been announced for the pilot as of yet.
