Writer-director Matthew Holness‘ chilling horror film Possum, given a five skull review from our DanXIII, is set to arrive on DVD this February. In the film, “Philip (Sean Harris, Mission: Impossible –Fallout & Rogue Nation, Deliver Us From Evil), a disgraced children’s puppeteer, returns to his dilapidated childhood home and lecherous stepfather, Maurice (Alun Armstrong, Braveheart). Philip is intent on destroying “Possum,” a hideously malformed spider-puppet he carries with him in a brown leather case. Unfortunately, and horrifically, Possum refuses to be abandoned. Philip’s mind is flooded with painful half-memories and nightmarish visions, and when he finds himself embroiled in a local investigation surrounding a missing boy, he grows progressively unsure of what’s real and what’s not. All the while Possum seems to mock his suffering at every turn.” A hallucinatory venture into a truly damaged psyche, Matthew Holness’(Garth Marenghi‘s Darkplace) Possum is a twisted trip of terror where both nothing and everything is exactly as it seems. Final Destination fans have been begging for a new installment for years and they’re finally getting their wish, sort of. THR is reporting that Final Destination is getting a “re-imagining”. New Line Cinema has hired horror writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to pen the script. The duo is most recognized for writing four of the Saw films as well as Piranha 3DD. Dunstan is also working on the upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film. The first Final Destination debuted in 2000 and was hit, bringing in $122 million. That’s not bad for a film made on a $23 million dollar budget. With non-stop thrills and seriously epic kills, I’m not surprised it made fans happy. There is still a question as to whether or not Tony Todd will be reprising his role, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully, we’ll know more soon. In the meantime, here’s the original’s trailer.

The poster has just been unveiled for the genre documentary Memory: The Origins of Alien, from Alexandre O. Philippe who also brought us 78/52 and Doc of the Dead. Now Philippe is delving into the origins of our favorite sci-fi horror film, beginning with the film that came before, Memory. Memory was a script that Dan O’Bannon started in 1971, abruptly hitting a wall at page 29. But after the idea gestated for several years, it ultimately took the form of Ridley Scott’s masterpiece Alien. Alexandre O. Philippe’s documentaries — most recently 78/52, about Hitchcock’s Psycho shower scene — have interrogated cinema’s cultural ripples. If Memory were only a comprehensive account of Alien’s origins — ancient myths, comic books, H.P. Lovecraft, sci-fi movies, and parasitic wasps — it would still be fascinating. But how did Alien lodge itself so indelibly into our cultural imagination? Philippe’s real interest lies in the deep resonance of myths and our collective unconscious. The strange

The 10-episode first season is being described by Rotten Tomatoes as: Much like the movie, the series follows three vampires who live together: Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Nandor (Kayvan Novak) — the former two are husband and wife. Also living with them is a fourth vampire named Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), who’s an ‘energy vampire.’ Instead of blood, he sucks the energy out of his victims by boring them to death with mundane anecdotes and bad jokes. The office is his feeding ground, but his powers also work on his vampire roomies. The main action is put into motion when our central three vampires receive notice that an ancient leader vampire
