Moira (Lina Romay) spends her time whorin’ it up and flickin’ her bean on stage… oh and torturing a woman with a curling iron to the (heavily) bearded clam to extract information regarding a stash of gold belonging to a dying Nazi general (Albino Graziani) for her sleazy boyfriend Vic (Miguel Aristu)… as any girl does.
Anyhow, that Nazi gold plot comes back here and there, but the real focus here is on showcasing a ton of drum solo scored sex, including extended masturbation scenes with Moira front and center (often gyratin’ away as that all time family favorite tune “The Taste of Your Sperm” rocks n’ rolls it’s way into our hearts and trousers). Eventually gold or some shit… sex!
Filled to the bouncin’ boobie brim with baffling choices you simply won’t believe, Jess Franco has really outdone himself with Night of Open Sex… a film that includes Nazis, Gregorian monk chant style music playing over steamy lesbian sex, the explicit licking of pornographic magazines, blow job sound effects that sounds like a cow licking a postage stamp, a rather hairy final frame of film, and a man that looks like Bob Pinciotti… seriously just look at this dude (while excusing the shitty quality of my taken in the dark cellphone photo)…
This entire affair is an exercise in lunacy and lasciviousness and I fuckin’ loved every goddamn hot sleaze second of it!
As with other sexploitation flicks by Franco, you get plenty of extended sex scenes replete with nudity, naughty touchin’, and some not-so-simulated sex here and there, but this one has a smidge more plot than normal with the hunt for treasure aspect that’s remembered occasionally as it’s weaved in and out of fuck scenes stacked as thick as the sky-high bush on display throughout.
Of course the real attraction here is the gorgeous Lina Romay, Franco muse extraordinaire, who bares all for an inordinate amount of screen time. If you’re a fan of the lady, you will adore the visuals of this one!
As for bonus material on this Severin Blu-ray we get: part two of a tour of locations Franco used in Portugal hosted by author Stephen Thrower, followed by part two of an archival interview from 1993 with Franco (who looks for all the world like modern-day John Carpenter) and Romay conducted by filmmaker Donald Farmer. Then we get an interview with Thrower wherein he discusses the film at hand.
If you like your early ’80s sex romps chock full o’ ridiculous, Night of Open Sex will definitely be your bag; the music is nonsense, the plot seldom there, and the nudity plentiful… in other words a grand time indeed!
