IFC Midnight Acquires Supernatural Western ‘The Wind’ Ahead Of Fantastic Fest

Today IFC Midnight announced that it has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Emma Tammi‘s haunting western The Wind. Shudder’s ‘Deadwax’ Series To Make World Premiere At Fantastic Fest

Streaming genre service Shudder has announced that Graham Reznick‘s killer series Deadwax will be making its World Premiere at the Fantastic Fest in Texas. Reznick who served as the sound designer on several films such as Stakeland and The Sacrament before becoming a filmmaker. “In the series, which will premiere in its entirety, “A young woman (Hannah Gross) is pulled into a murder investigation revolving around a curious vinyl record which has driven those who possess it mad, and killed anyone who dared to listen to it.“ The film takes cues from the urban legends about backmasking, that’s when a record is played in reverse and a message is revealed. Latina Pictures and Carnaby International have now announced the world premiere of longtime producer Winston Azzopardi‘s The Boat, his directing debut. His son Joe Azzopardi, who co-wrote the film, also stars. The Boat will screen for the first time at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, preceded by the short film Albatross Soup. Zombie Comedy ‘One Cut Of The Dead!’ Gnaws It’s Way To Vancouver Film Festival

From September 27th to October 12th the Vancouver International Film Festival will be showcasing works from filmmakers around the world. Most of the films this year are documentaries dealing with issues in the modern world, fictionalized dramas, and of course avant-garde. I’m not sure how most of you (the readers) would be into that stuff but one film submission from Japan seems like something you would like! “Kamera Wo Tomeruna! (One Cut of the Dead!)” The film is a Gonzo-style comedy film, the kind of which Japan is known for. Gonzo comedy is over the top, extreme, and sometimes just so strange where you can’t help but laugh at how unreasonable it is. “One Cut of the Dead!” follows a film crew filming a low-budget cheesy zombie flick in a remote area in the mountains. Sam Elliott (The Hero, A Star Is Born, Road House) stars as a legendary World War II veteran who many years ago assassinated Adolf Hitler – an incredible secret that he’s frustratingly unable to share with the world. Fandemic Comic Con has just announced a new addition to their celebrity lineup, film and TV star Chuck Norris for a one day only appearance on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Norris is best known for his roles in films like Delta Force, Code of Silence, The Expendables 2 and of course his long-running series “Walker, Texas Ranger.” Norris is a successful actor, author, fitness guru, columnist, entrepreneur, Master Martial Artist and an internet legend thanks to his fan’s Paul Bunyan-type fictional “facts” of his exploits.
