Serial Killer Horror ‘Cut Off’ Getting A U.S. Release (Trailer)

From writer-director Christian Alvart (Antibodies, Pandorum) comes the dark German horror-thriller Cut Off, based on the best-selling novel by Sebastian Fitzek and Michael Tsokos. Titled Abgeschnitten in its original language, the pulse-pounding film centers on Coroner Paul Herzfeld who discovers something terrifying, a capsule in the head of a heavily mutilated corpse, containing a phone number and single word: the name of his daughter who is missing. Paul finds himself to save his daughter from a serial killer on an island cut off from the mainland by a raging storm. Moritz Bleibtreu leads the cast that includes Jasna Fritzi Bauer, Fahri Yardim, Enno Hesse, Christian Kuchenbuch, Urs Jucker, and Barbara Prakopenka. Cut Off will receive an American release on digital platforms on July 3, 2020, from Dark Sky Films

Matvey (Aleksander Kuznetsov) is dating aspiring actress Olya (Evgeniya Kregzhde), and holy fuck does she have some Kong-sized daddy issues… like she wants the Ben Grimm lookin’ mother fucker named Andrey (Vitaliy Khaev) to take a permanent dirt nap for the rather unpleasant crimes he allegedly committed against her when she was young. While the claims of Olya are suspect at best, ol’ Andrey is guilty of plenty of other crimes… crimes made easy given his status as a cop… a cop with an equally corrupt partner… and the duo have a wild hair up their collective asses about some dough they were screwed out of. Five minutes into Beyond the Door you get narration from ol’ Satan himself, Jesus with tits n’ bush, a basic premise that manages to combine The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby, a funk song about the devil (which the musicians are told isn’t as good as their fap sessions), and a kid drinking mother fuckin’ Campbell’s soup straight from the mother fuckin’ can like a mother fuckin’ boss. Lucio Fulci’s seminal gut-muncher Zombie (or Zombi 2 as it is sometimes known, as in Italy it was released as a sequel to Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, which is known there as Zombi…confused yet boils n’ ghouls?!!) has always been a favorite of your’s cruelly, and before we even get into the review proper I will whole-heartedly state that every horror hound, zombie lover, and gore aficionado should have this fright flick in their creepy collection…no excuses! Miguel (Carlos Carrasco, who was also in 1994’s Speed… and should just stay his ass off buses) tools around town in one of the last of the Diablos Rojos; an outrageously painted bus that was once all the rage in public transportation down Panama way. As fate (and the screenplay) wou;d have it; our dude Miguel finds himself balls deep in supernatural shenanigans as late one night he crosses paths with a witch and ends up stranded in the countryside with a few members of the local fuzz and his assistant. Now that ol’ bus becomes their final stronghold as the forces of evil rise around them and folklore becomes reality. Hit Foreign Horror Film ‘Impetigore’ Premiering On Shudder

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, announced today that it has acquired all rights in its territories to writer-director Joko Anwar’s hit horror film Impetigore (aka Perempuan Tanah Jahanam) which had its international premiere at Sundance after a smash run in Anwar’s home country of Indonesia, where it was the fifth highest-grossing release of 2019. In the film, Maya with her best friend, Dini, tries to survive in a city without a family. She realized that she might inherit a property from her rich family.
