Spoiler-Free Review: THE SEEDING (Tribeca Festival 2023)

Imagine a horror film that combines elements found in Hiroshi Teshigahara’s classic Woman in the Dunes (Japan, 1964) with your favorite evil/feral child horror movie, add in a good deal of weirdness and mystery, and you’re only partially on your way to what writer/director Barney Clay’s The Seeding (U.S., 2023) holds in store for you. This harrowing work has stayed with me for days after watching it, and I’m certain that its grip will linger with me for quite some time. Steven Schneider, Slash & Malkier Team Up For New Slate Of Horror Films

Steven Schneider, the creator of the Paranormal Activity franchise, Malkier Studios, and rock god Slash are teaming up for a new slate of horror movies, “animation, and thriller content.” Variety reports. The first film on the list is titled Janus and comes from director Jason Zada (The Forest). Written by Nate Atkins, the film centers on three members of a band that seeks refuge in an old house where they discover a woman who harbors a terrifying secret. The cast of Janus includes Alex Neustaedter (American Rust), Natalie Alyn Lind (“Big Sky”), Jack Kilmer (Lords of Chaos), M.C. Gainey (Emperor), and Grace Van Dien (“Stranger Things”). Slash is producing the film alongside Steven Schneider. The next film to be released is titled The Worthless Remains. Director X (Superfly) is the director’s chair for the film written by Micah Ranum (The Silencing). Trinity Creative Partnership and Raven Banner have just announced the release of the gory, cosmic horror The Breach. The adaptation of Nick Cutter’s (The Troop) horror novel is directed by Rue Morgue founder Rodrigo Gudiño (The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh) and follows John Hawkins, who is in his last days as Chief of Police in the tiny town of Lone Crow, deep in the woods of Northern Ontario. VUDU Celebrates Premiere Of ‘Beau Is Afraid’ By Releasing New Clip

A24 and writer-director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) have teamed up again for the unnerving film Beau Is Afraid, out today on VUDU. To celebrate, VUDU has released a new exclusive scene which you can watch below. Originally titled Disappointment Blvd., the movie stars Academy Award-winner Joaquin Phoenix as a mild-mannered anxiety-ridden man who following the sudden death of his mother, confronts his darkest fears as he embarks on an epic, Kafkaesque odyssey back home. The film co-stars Parker Posey (“Lost in Space”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Dune), Denis Ménochet (The French Dispatch), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Hayley Squires (In the Earth), and Zoe Lister-Jones (the director of The Craft: Legacy). Lego Conjures “Ideas Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage” Kit

It doesn’t matter if you are a kid or a grown-ass adult. Legos are and always will be awesome. Over the past few years, the building block company has been releasing some killer complex adult kits. Following the news that Hocus Pocus 3 is brewing, Legos has announced their upcoming kit based on the iconic cottage home of the Sanderson Sisters, which features over 2,000 pieces. The Lego Ideas Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage is designed with older audiences in mind. The kit includes the sisters, Max, Danni, Allison, and Thackery Binx the cat, as well as easter eggs from the original film. The building can be displayed as either the Sandersons’ cottage or the Sanderson Witch Museum by adding signs, a cash register, and rope barriers. Caddy Shack Meets Gremlins: Trailer For Horror-Comedy ‘Caddy Hack’ Is Out

Sometimes, there is just nothing better than a cheesy horror movie. If that’s what you are looking for, we’ve got one you need to check out, Anthony Catanese’s Caddy Hack. In the film, which Catanese wrote and directed, a struggling golf course suffers a string of caddy murders at the paws of pesticide-mutated gofers while the greedy owner of the facility tries to cover up the carnage and unhinged groundkeeper wages all-out war on the vicious vermin. Jim Gordon, Jake Foy, Chrissy Cavallo, Nick Twist, Ilene Sullivan, and John Evans are among the cast of the crazy horror-comedy best described as Caddyshack meets Gremlins. Catanese, the cult indie director of Girls Just Wanna Have Blood and Sodomaniac, produced alongside Sara Casey, Scott Miller, Jim Gordon, Joseph Kuzemka, and Rob Hauschild. Spoiler-Free Review: YOU’LL NEVER FIND ME (Tribeca Festival 2023)

Two strangers, one home in a trailer park, and one dark and stormy night make for one exciting feature destined for my Top 10 Horror Films of 2023 list in the Australian chiller You’ll Never Find Me (2023). Codirectors Josiah Allen and Indianna Bell have crafted a tense film ready to burst at the seams with suspense and dread. Patrick (Brendan Rock) tells whoever is knocking at his door as rain pours down heavily in no uncertain terms what they should do, which involves profanity and being unwelcome. The visitor (Jordan Cowan) is persistent, though, and Patrick reluctantly lets her in. From this simple premise, Allen and Bell — working from a screenplay written by Bell — deliver a slow burn film loaded with anxiety and mystery during which viewers know something is off but cannot figure out the motivations of each character — until a secret is revealed and a dizzying third act follows. “Yellowjackets” Star Joins ‘Companion’ From The Director Of ‘Barbarian’

Sophie Thatcher, the breakout star of the dark and fantastic series “Yellowjackets,” has joined the cast of the upcoming horror Companion, THR reports. Last reported, Jack Quaid (Scream) had joined the cast alongside Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Lukas Gage (You), and Megan Suri (It Lives Inside). Drew Hancock is making their directorial debut. Hancock also penned the script for the film, described as both sci-fi and horror, though the plot details are currently being kept quiet. But we’ll keep you posted. Barbarian director Zach Cregger is producing, as is BoulderLight’s Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee. BoulderLight’s Tracy Rosenblum and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs are executive producing. Three Horror Icons Sink Their Teeth Into ‘Love Bites’ – Produced By Cher & Chaz Bono

Spider One (Bury the Bride) is in the director’s chair for Little Bites, produced by mother and son Cher and Chaz Bono. THR broke the news, announcing that the film will star horror icons Heather Langenkamp (Nightmare On Elm Street), Barbara Crampton (Re-animator), and Bonnie Aarons (The Nun). Bury the Bride actress Krsy Fox will also star alongside Elizabeth Caro and Jon Sklaroff in the film. Little Bites, which begins production later this month, centers on Mindy (Fox), a young widow and mother who tries to protect her daughter Alice (Elizabeth Caro) from a flesh-eating monster named Agyar (Jon Sklaroff).
