Anthony Michael Hall Joins Halloween Kills

Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club, War Machine) has joined the cast of Halloween Kills alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Variety is reporting. Get this, Hall will be playing the role of Tommy Doyle, who appeared in the original Halloween as one of the kids Curtis’ Laurie Strode was babysitting. The first time we saw Doyle as an adult was in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (the sixth film of the original franchise) and was played by Paul Rudd. But the new Halloween storyline avoids all of the old sequels. 2018’s Halloween picked up right after the 1978 original. Filmmaker and composer John Carpenter will be returning to create the score for both Halloween Kills and its planned sequel Halloween Ends, both announced last month. David Gordan Green will be returning to direct and co-write both films along with Danny McBride. Halloween Kills will open in theaters on Friday, October 16, 2020, followed by Halloween Ends on Friday, October 15,

IFC Midnight Snags Coming-Of-Age Thriller ‘Knives And Skin’

News has come that IFC Midnight has acquired North American rights to Jennifer Reeder’s visionary coming-of-age thriller Knives and Skin, which will screen next at Fantastic Fest. The film follows the “investigation of a young girl’s disappearance in a stylized version of a rural Midwest town that hovers just above reality, led by an inexperienced local sheriff. Unusual coping techniques develop among the traumatized small-town residents with each new secret revealed. The ripple of fear and suspicion destroys some relationships and strengthens others. The backdrop of trauma colors quintessential rituals—classrooms, dances, courtship, football games—in which the teenagers experience an accelerated loss of innocence while their parents are forced to confront adulthood failures. This mystical teen noir presents coming of age as a lifelong process and examines the profound impact of grief.” Starring Kate Arrington (The Irishman, Hello I Must Be Going), Tony Fitzpatrick (Married to the Mob, Philadelphia), Tim Hopper (School of Rock, Vanilla Sky), Raven Whitley (Red Line), and

Movie Review: Brightburn

If you are like me, you’ve been eagerly awaiting James Gunn’s genre-crossing antihero movie Brightburn. I snagged my copy yesterday, and let me tell you, it lives up to the hype. Holy hell, this movie was good, I mean, like make your jaw drop good. It’s dark, gritty and just f*cking fantastic all the way around. And the gore, Jesus, it was stomach-turning. That eye scene was so incredibly well shot! But don’t get me wrong, it’s not all about the blood and gore it’s about the family. And it will make your run a gambit of emotions from pity, sadness, shock, and heartbreak before it goes nuclear and turns disturbing and downright scary. By the end of the movie, you will be begging for more (hint, hint James Gunn, we want a sequel). At the heart of this film is a family, played by David Denman and Elizabeth Banks. Banks, whose determination to love and support her son no
