The Slasher, a new upcoming horror film, has begun their Indiegogo campaign to help fund their project. The film, written by Patrick Rudek, has the feel of the cult classics from the 1970’s and 1980’s, like Halloween and and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film will also pay homage to the masters of horror, such as George Romero, John Carpenter and Wes Craven. Rudek explains that “There is no big studio or budget at our disposal, but a great story, cast and team. It will be a clever, well-told horror movie.” Emmy award-winner Bill Oberst Jr. has been cast as the film’s killer, John Romero. The Slasher centers on Romero, convicted of multiple murders and committed to a mental institution for the criminally insane, where he was sentenced to live out his days. Fans may be surprised to learn that Fox has renewed Wayward Pines for season 2. 10 new episodes have been order for the show, which is set to premiere in the summer of 2016. Fans assumed that series was finished when many of the main characters, including the main character Ethan, played by Matt Dillon, were killed in the finale. The second season will pick up where the first season ended, with the town under the control of the youth, with no adults left insight, which could make for interesting story. In the first season, we saw Ethan (Dillon) wake in the hospital in the strange town of Wayward Pines. We watched as Dillon tried to escape the town, surrounded by huge walls and we learned that the people of the town may be the only humans left on Earth. David Bruckner is no longer attached and a new director has not been announced. There was a rumor the the reboot would be found footage. However Brad Fuller (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), a producer for the 2016 film, has stated that it will in fact, NOT be found footage.
