Things aren’t exactly salad and cream (that’s a thing that’s good, right?) for Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) and his partner Aaron (Ari Cohen) who move to the ultra-suburbs with A-dawgs teenage daughter Kayla (Jennifer Laporte). Greg Chapman is a horror author in the truest, purest sense of the title. He thrives in darkness and basks in the bleak world of fear. I am a big fan and I was so happy to read his short story collection: The Sublime Darkness: And Other Dark Stories. This is the second book I have read of Chapman’s and so this time I was prepared for the dive into the depths of darkness…and it was a fantastic journey! Characters The characters in these stories are impressive. Not only are they always unique and intriguing, but they are realistic. Even in the darkest of his universes, the characters in Chapman’s stories seem like regular people in traumatic situations. They could be your neighbor, or the person you just passed on the street last time you went on a walk. Not only does he create such great characters, but he does it in an impressive way. Gregory Plotkin, the filmmaker behind Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Hell Fest, and editor of Get Out, is back with a new tale of terror titled Crimson. Plotkin up with esports organization FaZe Clan for the film that will star YouTube personality FaZe Rug (Brian Awadis). The two have a combined 230 million followers. Crimson follows FaZe Rug who has just bought a multi-million smart house, only to find out that his dream home has some not so friendly neighbors. And after he becomes suspicious, he investigates the house next door and he discovers the sinister characters living there aren’t clowning around. The movie is set within the world of FaZe Clan and features several other members of the group in their own homes. Shudder, has now announced the start of production on the highly-anticipated second season of its hit series “Creepshow” in Atlanta, Georgia. The anthology series, which shattered all Shudder records when it debuted last October, is executive produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero (“The Walking Dead“) and is based on George A. Romero’s iconic 1982 movie. I’ve never been happier to get behind the camera as I am today. If you read my review of L.C. Barlow’s Pivot, you know how much I loved the story of Jack Harper. Raised in a cult, destroyed the cult leader and the adventure had just started! I will try and avoid major spoilers from Pivot, but just in case, I do suggest you read the book before reading this review. Characters Jack is still the same person in this book, only with more depth. She finds herself in a world without the comfort of her familiar life. Although she knows the cult she left was evil and absolutely destructive to her, she finds herself lost I the real world and struggling to know what to do. I was extremely happy that Barlow wrote Jack with this struggle in Perish because, regardless of the horrors of her life before, it was still the life she know and change, especially drastic change is always a challenge. CBS All Access released the first teaser trailer today for director Josh Boone‘s (The New Mutants) 9-episode limited series adaptation of Stephen King‘s “The Stand,” set to premiere this December. In the 30-second video, we see survivors traveling through cities and farms. We also get a brief glimpse of Mother Abigail and the villain Randall Flagg. The new series brings to life King’s tale of people in a world decimated by a plague where they find themselves stuck in the middle of a battle between good and evil.
