Paris: the early 1900’s: As a new age begins, a wax museum, operated by Boris Volkoff (Robert Hossein) and his strange assistants, is set to open and all of the city seems to be balls deep into that prospect. Along with that, there have been a rash of disappearances, mainly involving children and prostitutes. Swept up in the mix is young fashion designer Sonia (Romina Mondello), who’s mother was murdered twelve years prior. I wonder if there is a connection? Movie Review: Pumpkins (2018)

An unpopular farmer (Terry Wood) with a rather disconcerting pumpkin fetish, meets his end thanks to being scared to death by two hooligans (Dale Hooley and Nathan Jordie Keers), but he won’t stay dead for long, as the unhallowed ground he is buried in resurrects his ass as Pumpkin Man (Will Metheringham), a monstrous mountain of a man with a pumpkin visage that goes all in on the murder biz along with some living pumpkins (wait… what the fuck now?)! That’s all well and good, but in order to have a slasher opus you need victims… and along comes Lance (Roland Martial) and Denise (Sarah Jayne Curry); guides employed by a group of survival nuts to lead them to remote territory, which of course is directly on Pumpkin Man’s land. Dutch Horror ‘Resonance’ Ventures Onto Digital This October

Terror Films has snagged the North American rights to Siar Sedig‘s mysterious horror thriller Resonance with a release set for next week. This Netherlands set film has been making the festival rounds and has racked up multiple awards, including “Best Score” from the Diabolical Horror Film Festival 2018, “Best Horror Feature” – Genre Celebration Festival 2018, “Best Feature Film International” – Move Me Productions Belgium Film Festival 2018, “Best Original Idea” – Top Indie Film Awards and multiple wins including “Best Lead Actor,” “Best Lead Actress,” “Best Horror Feature,” “Best Editing” and “Best Sound,” among others at the Five Continents International Film Festival 2018. ‘The Painted Bird’ Acquired By IFC Films

IFC Films announced today that it is acquiring U.S. rights to The Painted Bird directed, written, and produced by Václav Marhoul (Tobruk, Smart Philip). Based on the acclaimed novel by Jerzy Kosinski, the movie was a singular achievement by Marhoul, almost 11 years in the making from the decision to acquire the rights, to the writing of the screenplay, to the casting and production lock. It is also notably, the first-ever film made in the invented Interslavic language. When Roberta (Nicoletta Elmi),the daughter of sculptor Franco (one-time Bond George Lazenby), ends up face down dead in a river down Venice way, our hero teams up with his estranged wife Elizabeth (Anita Strindberg) to solve the case. Of course whoever is responsible doesn’t want to be caught and the body count rises as the trail leads to some of the most respected figures in Venetian society. Starting off with a real showstopper in the revolting murder of young Roberta, Who Saw Her Die? trucks along in typical giallo freaky fashion with all of the accoutrements firmly in place. You get your black gloved killer, a barrel of red herring served up nice n’ hot, nonsensical explanations, and the ol’ money shots; plenty of acts of murderous mayhem! Cult Classics ‘Maniac’ And ‘Zombie’ Added To Messed Up Puzzles

Cult classic horror films are not just popular because of the cheap gore effects, campy acting, and boobs, the poster art alone for many of these films are masterpieces to those with an eye for horror art. Messed Up Puzzles is a company that takes these artistic pieces and turns them into jigsaw puzzles that will make any ghoul happy! These Not Safe For Work (NSFW) puzzles feature the art of films only without the title getting in the way. Recently added to their growing collection are the 1980 slasher Maniac and the 1979 Italian zombie flick Zombie (also goes by Zombi 2, and Zombie Flesh Eaters). Maniac follows a serial killer in New York City who murders women and then removes their scalps and affixing them to mannequins. Movie Review: Chain of Death (2019)

Mike (John Patrick Amedori) heads home, his wife Rebecca (Kim Johnston Ulrich) in tow, at the behest of his mother Emma (Adrienne Barbeau). The reason? Mike’s Dad Michael (Ray Wise) is dying from some dread disease and she needs the ‘ol helpin’ hand. Long story short, Mike ends up requiring the services of an assisted suicide facility, which would be difficult in and of itself for emotional reasons alone…but this particular business is a titch different, as instead of the usual monetary fees, the person asking for their services must in turn murder someone else. How far will Mike go, and will he be able to keep his own hide intact before all is said and done? Let’s kick out the jams with the positives of Chain of Death. Working from a screenplay by Andres Rosende, Director David Martín Porras (who also co-created the film’s story) presents a pretty suspenseful, at times gloriously unbelievable, narrative that while it stumbles here
