DVD Review: Sleep No More (2018)

In the mid ’80’s a gaggle o’ graduate students are conducting sleep deprivation experiments (involving an untested drug), which of course go completely sideways resulting in their control subject going berserk and dying. Besides most likely getting a big, fat “F” for the semester (bummer), our heroes’ experiment is completely shut down by the powers that be. This doesn’t set well with our plucky protagonists, and they decide to continue the experiments…on themselves (I mean what could go wrong…only one person went apeshit and clawed their own eyes out…probably a fluke)! Naturally it doesn’t take long for the gang to start seeing spectral visions and monsters, and to begin turning against one another. Will they be able to keep it together and survive the horrors in the darkness for the 200 hours the experiment runs? I’ll tell you creeps right off the beastly bat; Sleep No More is one fun time in the ol’ horror biz! Featuring a unique premise

The New ‘Hellboy’ Poster Is Badass AF!

Director Neil Marshall (The Descent) is taking Hellboy to a much darker place with his new “R” film starring David Harbour (Stranger Things). The new poster has been released and it is badass, making us rethink the doubts we had when the film was first announced. Milla Jovovich plays the role of Nimue, the villain of the film, Ian McShane plays Professor Broom, Daniel Dae Kim plays Major Ben Daimio, Penelope Mitchell acts as Ganeida and Sasha Lane as Alice. Sophie Okonedo, Brian Gleeson, and Alistar Petrie co-star. This time around, Hellboy (Harbour) squares off against a medieval sorceress (Jovovich) who seeks to destroy humankind. Aron Coleite wrote the latest version of the script penned by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Carl Hampe executive produced the film. Hellboy will open in theaters nationwide on April 12, 2019.

It’s man versus nature when wrestling superstar John Hennigan and acclaimed actor Stephen Tobolowsky (‘’Silicon Valley’’, ‘’Deadwood’’) play ‘leapfrog’ with mutated amphibians in Ojala Productions’ highly-anticipated eco-thriller Strange Nature, out on DVD today. “By moving in with her estranged hermit father in the backwoods of a small town, Kim (Lisa Sheridan, “The 4400”) and son Brody find themselves in the middle of a horrendous phenomenon where deadly offspring mutations spread from animals to humans.” Based on true unsolved outbreaks of wildlife mutations, Strange Nature marks the directorial debut of fx master James Ojala (Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Thor, Tron: Legacy) and stars Lisa Sheridan (“Invasion”), Stephen Tobolowsky (Memento), John Hennigan (Minutes to Midnight), Tiffany Shepis (Victor Crowley), and Carlos Alazraqui (The Funhouse Massacre). Blu-ray Review: 12 Monkeys (1995)

In a disease ravaged future, subterranean dwellin’ prisoner James Cole (Bruce Willis) is chosen to go back in time and find the source of the virus in a desperate plan to save the future…on a side note, he keeps having dreams of an airport shooting, but I’m sure that is unrelated and will not factor into the story at all. Anyway, our dude goes back a bit too far (to 1990 instead of 1996 to be precise). He is of course immediately considered a lunatic and incarcerated when he tells of his mission…but soon learns an organization with the catchy handle of the Army of the Twelve Monkeys has a role in the virus and that his fellow inmate, Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt) is involved with the whole affair in some part. Soon Cole is goin’ back and forth along the time stream like a yo-yo trying to put an end to that dastardly disease, but will he be up

Short Film Review: The Eyes That See in the Dark (2018)

Man-oh-man is ol’ Christina (Jessica Blaney) ever in some dire straits boils n’ ghouls! You see, it seems she’s inadvertently turned her body into a human AirBnB after a failed seance of sorts, and a dastardly demon has rented that shit out with the quickness! To try and remedy this, her mother (Maria C. Blaney) has called in a duo of holy men (Andrew Hunsicker and Gabriel Brandis) to try and get that sinister squatter to vamoose, but that goes over like a fart in a submarine and before long a second demon (Jeffrey Scott) makes the scene and things go from bad, to really fucking bad! The Eyes That See in the Dark is one hell (pun always intended) of a cool lil’ fright flick! It takes the tried and true exorcism trope, gives it a slight twist or two, and delivers a satisfying bite sized horror flick that will doubtless satisfy fans of the possession sub-genre. Praise must

Writer-Director P.J. Starks Reviews ‘The Predator’ For Horror Fuel

P.J. Starks, the man behind the Volumes of Blood franchise, a writer, director, and producer, has shared with us his review of The Predator, written and directed by Shane Black. Follow Volumes of Blood on Facebook to stay up to date on Stark’s upcoming sequel Volumes of Blood: Devil’s Knight. When a young boy accidentally triggers the universe’s most lethal hunters’ return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race. When I first heard this film was being made by the same guys who conceived The Monster Squad, it was difficult not to be excited. A new movie from the creators of a beloved film from my childhood! One I’d watched a gazillion times. I had a nerdgasm to put it lightly, however, I did my best not to fanboy out and watch the film with unbiased eyes. The films set up is as simple as the
