Trailer Surfaces For Syfy’s “Tremors” Series

Last month we were saddened to have to report that Syfy had killed their plans to air the “Tremors” television series starring Kevin Bacon. Now, somehow, the trailer for the pilot has found its way onto the net and it makes us even more bummed that the series isn’t happening. While the plot for the show was kept mostly under wraps we do know that it was meant to be a continuation of the original film with Bacon reprising his role as Val McKee in Perfection, Nevada. Fred Ward would have reprised his role as Earl Bassett. P.J. Byrne (Rampage), Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead), and Emily Tremaine (The Blacklist) were set to co-star. The pilot episode was directed by Vincenzo Natali, the director of both Cube and Splice. Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) wrote the script. Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think.

Movie Review: Dead By Midnight (11pm Central) (2018)

A mysterious monster movie hostess (Erin Brown; Misty Mundae herself!) begins broadcasting her haunted Halloween hootenanny from within an abandoned studio owned by a doomed rural television station. As the night progresses we are treated to a cadre of creepy cool tales each inexplicably starring a different, and suddenly missing, member of the station’s staff! First up we get the ’80’s set creature feature Jersey Devil which concerns the misadventures of pre-teen Emma and the battered waitress that showed up on her doorstep going head to head with the legendary cryptid of the Pine Barrens. The comedic interplay between Avri Bartolozzi as Emma, and Davi Crimmins as the beleaguered waitress Dani is absolutely fantastic, the story is high on camp, and the creature suit is Grade-A fuckin’ badass…this is a solid gold winner in my beastly book (and if your listening, how about turning this one into a feature)! Next up is Creepy Dolls, in which a trio investigates an

The action-packed trailer features ‘Storms’, a track from Powderfinger’s lead guitarist and songwriter, Darren Middleton. “After their small Australian country town is annihilated by an overwhelming airborne attack, a group of civilians evade capture and discover they are now among the last remaining survivors of an extraterrestrial invasion engulfing the entire planet. On the frontlines of the battle for Earth, they are our last hope.” The stellar ensemble cast of local and international talent includes Dan Ewing (Red Billabong), Temuera Morrison (Star Wars), Stephany Jacobsen (Revenge), Rhiannon Fish (The 100), Jacqueline McKenzie (The Water Diviner), and Bruce Spence (Star Wars, Mad Max 2). Production wrapped on the Gold Coast in late 2017, which involved local crew and a supporting cast of more than 300 people. The alien invasion

Movie Review: Island Zero (2017)

Something is seriously wrong up in Maine; namely a small fishing island has become isolated A.F. thanks to the one ferry on or off the island disappearing. To make matters worse, the phone lines are dead, all boats to the mainland fail to return, and the entire place is under a power blackout. As food supplies dwindle and anxiety levels rise, folks start turning up mutilated and the island finds itself at the mercy of a monster from the deep! Beautifully shot on location, with plenty of steel-grey skies and rain to add to the dreary ambiance, Island Zero certainly looks the part of atmospheric creature feature! Adding to the strength of the picture are rock solid acting, a nice slow burn story line fraught with mounting tension (and a nice layer of mythology) as the isolation begins playing on an ever more desperate populace…and the human remains start popping up, and moments of well realized, practical gore. Sounds great,

The Predator’s Bad Ass First Trailer Is Here!!!

This summer we will finally see director Shane Black (Iron Man 3) and co-writer Fred Dekker’s (The Monster Squad) highly-anticipated movie The Predator. The first trailer has just come in and it’s everything we’d hoped for! It’s bad ass!! “From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.” The Predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Edward James Olmos. The Predator invades theaters nationwide on September 13, 2018, from 20th Century Fox.

Movie Review: The Jurassic Games (2018)

Sometimes I can’t even believe the things I have to type for this column…like this for instance: In the future, death row convicts are forced to compete in a virtual reality game show called The Jurassic Games, where they have to fight dinosaurs to win their freedom…so, this is The Running Man with dinosaurs…this may actually be genius (I mean someone is eaten by a T-rex before even five minutes have passed, so that is a good sign). Alliances and rivalries are formed among the convicts, dinosaurs eat people, and even more story elements are lifted wholesale from the Schwarzenegger classic (including corruption behind the scenes of the games, the “hero” convict being wrongfully accused, merch of the show being advertised during the broadcast…and on and on). Look, no one is ever going to say The Jurassic Games is original (and if they do they may need serious psychiatric help), but I’ll be damned if the film isn’t entertaining. It’s

Short Film Review: Panther Ridge (2018)

Panther Ridge concerns the fateful night a young acolyte descends into the BDSM underground…and what starts as a fairly rote bondage and knife play scenario, soon spins massively out of control into a level of violence that goes beyond mere sexual gratification and straight into “Holy fuck, you people are out of your goddamned minds” in the blink of an eye (and flash of the blade). Coming from Writer/Director Ryan Swantek, Panther Ridge is an enigmatic and shockingly violent short subject. Clocking in at just over six minutes, the film introduces us to both a novice dominatrix, and her seasoned mentor, not to mention a well dressed man that seems to be guiding the operation…but who he is, who is watching the live feed (the entire event is being filmed by an obsidian camera that almost becomes a character itself, besides being a rather ominous phallic symbol), and other questions are never answered…which could be frustrating if handled poorly, but

You Will Be Able To Play Steam Games On Your Phone Soon!

Long train commute? Meeting that goes on forever? Just bored?! Well, Valve has figured out a solution to make those moments and other bearable. The geniuses behind the PC gaming giant have developed a free app for Android and iOS devices. The apps will allow those with Steam accounts to play any game from their game library on their devices provided that your PC is connected to a 5Ghz network or have it plugged in with an ethernet cable. The app will allow users to use Steam and MFI controllers (that may make it hard to play stealthily in a meeting.) Later on, Valve plans to allow users to stream movies and tv shows onto your devices through your Steam library. The app will be coming out the week of May 21st and will only work if you have an internet connection (like pretty much anything these days). Happy Gaming!
