From writer-director Matthew Williams comes Maniac Farmer, a throwback to the slasher flick yesteryear, like Madman, The Mutilator and Slaughterhouse. We now have the official one-sheet designed by Rocky Gray (Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, 10/31), as well as the bloody new trailer. “It’s a surreal thing seeing something you wrote become a reality on screen, and I couldn’t be more proud, especially of my fantastic cast who made it all possible. We’re all very excited to unveil it to the public.” Williams told us. Starring Jake Roark, Tyler Caldwell, Jeremy Snead, Alexander Davis, Hannah Davis, and Tyler Ward, the film centers on a group of street punks led by the murderous Blasphemous Rex who meet their match when they choose to terrorize a seemingly helpless farmer who ends up turning the tides on the group. The hunters become the hunted. Maniac Farmer is executive produced by P.J. Starks, the man behind the Volumes of Blood franchise, 10/31, Butcher the

Ol’ Michael (Elliot James Langridge) really knows how to multi-task as he divides his time pretty damn equally between the unemployment office and the local watering hole. Enter Lee (Jessica Barden) into that pulse pounding scenario; a young waif of a woman who immediately takes up residence in Mike’s flat following which our heroes have a series of drunken misadventures before arriving at Lee’s Uncle Ian’s (William Ash) establishment wherein Lee gets a wad of cash and Mike eventually ends up getting a job manning the door of the “massage parlor” (after witnessing a customer expiring from a slashed throat). Our hero isn’t long on the job before he realizes the name of the game is a bit more than the normal rub and tug; rather these ladies and their boss are rather hungry…hungry for human flesh, and Mikey may be of the same ilk! Habit is a strange one my fiends. It operates under the same sort of rules

College student Ranae (Madeline Conway), a bit of a bundle of damaged goods thanks to her losing her grip a tad due to her mother’s recent demise…she also just happens to be the lucky babysitter that gets to watch the infant child of a family with a tragic past. As fate would have it, she soon begins to have fevered nightmares, seeing strange beings in the surrounding woods, receiving terrifying photos on her phone, and witnessing horrific visions of the child in her care meeting it’s grizzly demise…and even the presence of her friends who arrive on the scene to check up on her helps abate this psychotronic tomfoolery…in fact they soon fall victim to it as well! Can Ranae manage to face her own demons and whatever the hell is haunting that god damned house and survive the night? The Nursery is a bit of a surprise honestly; I was expecting some sort of half-assed budget Conjuring clone…but instead

Writer-director David Freyne‘s The Cured, starring Ellen Page (Inception), is headed to Blu-ray and DVS this Summer from IFC Midnight. In the film, “The world has been ravaged for years by a virus that turns the infected into zombie-like cannibals until a cure is at last found and the wrenching process of reintegrating the survivors back into society begins. Among the formerly afflicted is Senan (Sam Keeley, This Must Be The Place), a young man haunted by the horrific acts he committed while infected. Welcomed back into the family of his widowed sister-in-law (Ellen Page, Juno), Senan attempts to restart his life — but is society ready to forgive him and those like him? Or will fear and prejudice once again tear the world apart? Pulsing with provocative parallels to our troubled times, The Cured is a smart, scary, and a hauntingly human tale of guilt and redemption. Page stars along with Sam Keeley (Anthropoid, In the Heart of the

A shark obsessed dude attempts to write a screenplay as a shark (I predict I’m going to be writing that word a lot in this review) doc plays on the boob tube. Before long a news bulletin interrupts the show warning of a plague of shower sharks…sharks that emerge from drains to menace the populace…and you can guess what happens next! Shower Sharks gives the viewer exactly what you would expect; an absurd and enjoyable bite sized bit of nonsense in the Troma style. Film maker (and lead actor)Noah “Shark” Robertson has a keen eye (two in fact) for delivering off-the-wall horror comedy, and you can tell he has a ton of passion and heart. As for any negatives to be found here (and this isn’t really a “bad” thing…more of an observation of something that stood out); I’m fairly certain that Robertson just filmed an actual EMT call guerrilla style for the film’s coda…this is some real Corman level

Axeman is gearing up for battle against “Satan’s Whores”. This morning, Axeman trilogy writer and director Joston Ramon Theney (interview) confirmed the release of #SinningWorks’ first comic book, scheduled to hit shelves this Fall. The one-off comic follows two surviving characters of Axeman 2: Overkill as well as a returning character from the original Axeman film. It’s been a wild ride to get to this point – never having worked in comics before but luckily I’ve had a great artist to work with,” Theney said. “This story was originally just a simple bridge between the events of OVERKILL and ABSOLUTION but has become so much more. It continues the journey of Kesha and Sunshine and shows you that there was more than meets the eye to their relationship and their relationship with Denise from the first film. “Theney went on to say, “The comic also paves the way for a more substantive conclusion to the trilogy for the upcoming AXEMAN
