Dark Comedy CLAUDIA Debuts at Romford Film Festival

A sexagenarian chauvinist thinks he has met his match with Claudia, who — or in this case, which — happens to be a mannequin. On Saturday, May 27th at 3:45 p.m., the feature film Claudia — directed by Edward Westrop — will have its world premiere at The Romford Film Festival. Following is the official press release. Claudia is a black comedy about a misogynistic, sixty-something year old man named Raymond who forms an emotional relationship with a life-sized, female mannequin. This film aims to put a darkly comedic twist on the topic of domestic abuse when Raymond realises that the mannequin, who he names Claudia, is the perfect vessel for his misogynistic, backwards relationship values. Director of Claudia Edward Westrop is a self-taught filmmaker whose western-themed, stop-frame animation Cloaked Rider was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. Claudia is Westrop’s first feature film and has already been selected by the Out of the Can International Film Festival

Willem Defoe Joins The Cast Of ‘Beetlejuice II’

Over the past two weeks, news surrounding the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel has continued to come to light, with several new cast members joining the film. The latest actor to join the cast of Tim Burton’s sequel is brilliant actor Willem DeFoe, who has starred in films such as The Lighthouse, Spider-Man, and The Northman. According to THR, Defoe will be playing the role of “a law enforcement officer in the afterlife.” DeFoe joins returning stars Michael Keaton, Wynona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara and stars Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, and Monica Belluci. Beetlejuice II is set to haunt theaters beginning September 6, 2024.

Netflix Unveils New Unsettling ‘Run Rabbit Run’ Trailer

Sarah Snook stars in Run Rabbit Run, the feature film directorial debut of “Succession” actress Diana Reid. Snook stars as Sarah, a mother and fertility doctor whose own daughter Mia’s behavior drastically becomes more and more unhinged as her seventh birthday approaches. A surprise pet rabbit present unlocks Mia’s (Lily Latorre) memories of a supposed past life, sending Sarah down a terrifying rabbit hole. Damon Herriman and Greta Scacchi also star in this intense film written by Australian novelist Hannah Kent. Horror Western ‘Organ Trail’ Unleashes New Clips As It Rides Into Town

Saddle up; the brutal, horror western Organ Trail is locked and loaded and on Digital today. This June, witness Scream of the Wolf (formally known as Wolf Manor), the story of a group of filmmakers making a vampire movie that are faced with a lycanthrope (werewolf). “Making a vampire movie in an old, abandoned house should have been easy, but with the full moon, the nightmare begins. The body count rises as the cast & crew encounter the mansion’s resident werewolf, and by daylight, only the lucky will survive.” James Fleet, Jay Taylor, and Thaila Zucchi star in a film from Dominic Brunt, best known for portraying the role of Paddy Kirk in the UK soap opera “Emmerdale.” The creatures in the film were created by renowned special make-up effects artist Shaune Harrison (“Game of Thrones”). New Horror Franchise Coming From ‘The Conjuring’ Writer Based On True Stories

Fans of big horror franchises, like The Conjuring Universe, will be psyched to learn that a new horror franchise based on haunting actual events is heading your way. Cinedigm is teaming up with horror heavy-hitter Tony DeRosa-Grund, the creator and producer of The Conjuring franchise, for The Haunted, Deadline reports. “The Haunted franchise starts with one family’s dark and terrifying real-life preternatural experiences, which intersect with historical facts and legends surrounding a young pregnant woman accused by her father of being a witch. That convergence places the family in impending mortal danger.” DeRosa-Grund, who wrote the original Conjuring movie, aims to recapture the franchise’s success by building a new, similar universe with sequels, prequels, and spin-offs. The first film will focus on exploring the real terrifying events experienced by a family who appears to be under attack by a malevolent supernatural force that inflicts not only harm but death on the family members.

Belluci To Play Beetlejuice’s Wife In Upcoming Sequel

Earlier this week, we reported that the sequel to Tim Burton‘s 1988 classic, Beetlejuice 2, officially has a summer premiere date. Today, news has come that Monica Belluci of the Matrix franchise will play Beetlejuice’s wife. Yes, you read that right; Beetlejuice got hitched, according to THR. Of course, fans were happy to learn that Wynona Ryder is returning as Lydia. Lydia’s daughter will be played by “Wednesday” actress Jenna Ortega. Catherine O’Hara Is returning, as is Beetlejuice himself, Michael Keaton. Justin Theroux has also joined the cast for the sequel directed by Tim Burton. Plot details for the sequel have not been revealed, but we’re just happy to see the “Ghost with the Most” in action again. Beetlejuice II opens in theaters on September 6, 2023.

Dan Stevens Joins Radio Silence’s Upcoming Universal Monster Movie

Dan Stevens (The Guest) is the latest star to sign on for Radio Silence’s upcoming “untitled monster thriller” for Universal. Stevens joins Melissa Barrera, who starred in Radio Silence’s two Scream films, and Alisha Weir (Matilda: The Musical). THR states, “The project was at one point titled Dracula’s Daughter. That project centered on a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom is the titular character. Woe then betides the kidnappers. Weir is playing the kidnappee who proves to be more than she appears, with Barrera playing one of the kidnappers.” Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing. Chad Villella and William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt of Project X Entertainment serve as producers. Stephen Shields penned the script for the mysterious movie with Guy Busick making revisions. We will update you as soon as we know more.
