Many shows take a stab at getting to viewers’ hearts with emotional scenes and episodes, but they usually fall short. Sunday night, I witnessed what may be the most emotional episode of any series I have ever watched. Of course, I’m talking about episode three of “The Last of Us.” And I’m sure many of the 6.4 million viewers that tuned in would agree. I am a die-hard horror fan and rarely ever cry in real life, but episode three had me crying, ugly crying, snot dripping, and all. Don’t get it twisted; it wasn’t all heartaches and sadness; instead, the episode was about love, which was beautiful. Warning! Spoilers! Film Reviews: SORCERY and MY ANIMAL (Sundance Film Festival)

Sorcery Blending elements of dark folklore and revenge horror, Chilean-set Sorcery (Brujeria; Mexico/Germany/Chile, 2023) finds 13-year-old indigenous girl Rosa Rain (Valentina Véliz Caileo) seeking justice after her father is savagely killed when the head of the German colonist family for which she has been working has his dogs attack him. Bonding with elderly Mateo Parancán (Daniel Antivilo), who is accused of being the leader of a group of local sorcerers, Rosa seeks to learn the mystical secrets of the members. When the two young sons of the German family go missing — having possibly been either killed or turned into dogs — Rosa, Mateo, and the group members find themselves accused of murder. Brazilian Horror ‘Lacuna’ Possesses New Trailer

The Brazilian horror Lacuna possesses a new trailer ahead of its release sometime later this year. While it looks great, the trailer is tame compared to the film and does not show that the movie is a real gorefest. Filmed in just two weeks during the pandemic, the film, directed by Rodrigo Lages, centers on a mother-daughter relationship. Sofia’s (Loren Comparato) life is shattered after her mother, Helena (Kika Kalache), has a severe car accident. When her mother returns home, Sofia discovers that her mother is no longer herself and has been possessed by a sinister entity. When doctors can not help, Sofia is forced to seek answers beyond science. Laila Zaid, Guilherme Prates, Priscila Maria, and Charles Fricks co-star in the film that features English subtitles. Gerard Johnstone’s latest film, M3GAN, has already made a name for itself with horror fans. After hearing all the buzz, I had to see it for myself. In the movie, which has earned itself the title of “Certified Fresh,” “Gemma, a brilliant roboticist at a toy company, uses artificial intelligence to develop M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a kid’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype — a decision that has unimaginable consequences.” Of course, it doesn’t take long in the movie for M3GAN to begin killing, but let’s be honest; we all saw that coming. In all honesty, while the film is very entertaining, sadly, it is also very predictable. Young actress Violet McGraw performs far beyond her years. Full Moon Features (FMF) announced today the launch of The Full Moon Horror Line, its new premium toy division, creating, developing, and producing a breadth of new, high-end replicas and figures, along with innovative toys and merchandise based on FMF’s vast catalog of legacy franchises and licenses.
