When I say the name Jared Leto the first thing you probably think of is his role as the new Joker in Suicide Squad. He’s also been in a lot of really great films, like Fight Club, American Psycho and many others.
Well, he may very well have his next role already lined-up, as the new vampire Lestat. Yes, you read that right. There is new mixed adaption of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire and her novel The Vampire Lestate in development. Yesterday, writer/director Josh Boone shared that the screenplay that he co-wrote with Jill Killington was complete. And confirmed that Universal Pictures is developing it for their new shared universe. The film’ is titled The Vampire Chronicles, according to Bloody-Disgusting. The film would join Universal’s upcoming remakes such as The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, The Invisible Man, starring Johnny Depp, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Wolf Man, The Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula.
Not only did Boone reveal the upcoming film, he Tweeted a photo of Leto with the caption “Lestat – there can only be one. #JaredLeto .” Leto will be starring in the role originally played by Tom Cruise in the 1994 classic.
