The Conjuring franchise is quickly becoming one of the biggest franchises in the genre. The number of spin-offs keeps multiplying including Annabelle and Annabelle 2: Creation, The Nun which has entered production, and a possible Crooked Man film in the works. Now, The Conjuring is getting a third film.
During an interview with CinemaBlend, producer Peter Safran talks about the next installment that will continue to explore the supernatural and paranormal investigations by Ed and Loraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, and how The Conjuring 3 will be very different from its predecessors.
There are some [cases] that maybe aren’t as well known, but they spent a fair bit of time researching and were part of [them]. Clearly, we can’t do another haunted house movie, right? We can’t do another supernatural possession in a house, with a family in peril. Right? So, it’s got to be something different than that, I think. There are a lot of places to go, and there’s a fair bit of material there.”
The Warrens are famous for their work with demons and ghosts after working on cases such as The Enfield Haunting (the subject of The Conjuring 2), but in reality they also handled cases dealing with things like werewolves. In fact, there have been rumors that part 3 will involve a werewolf since James Wan admitted during an interview that a film about a beast could be cool.
Maybe we can go and do it like a classic American Werewolf in London style. That would be awesome! The Warrens set against the backdrop of The Hound of Baskerville.”
What do you think? Do you like the idea of The Conjuring 3 featuring werewolves in stead of ghosts ans demons? We’ll keep you posted.
