Last year, we were excited to report that TNT was reviving Tales from the Crypt with M. Night Shyamalan at the helm. Soon after the show ran into a series of problems and was delayed do to rights issues. Now, news has come that the series is dead in the water.
TNT president Kevin Reilly told Deadline that the series has been abandoned and that their focus has turned to Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi anthology series.

That one got really caught up in a complete legal mess unfortunately with a very complicated underlying rights structure. We lost so much time, so I said,’Look, I’m not waiting around four years for this thing’. Maybe that will come back around but in the meantime, Ridley Scott had come up, who has so much creative enthusiasm.”

Tales from the Crypt was meant to be part of TNT’s new horror block that includes the new series Time of Death and Creatures. Until it’s said otherwise, we have to assume that those series are still moving forward.
