Casting news has arrived for adaption of the 80’s video game, Rampage. THR reports that Malin Akerman (The Final Girls) has joined the cast to play the role of the villainess, who is the head of a tech company and the person responsible unleashing monsters on the US.
Akerman will co-star alongside Jack Quaid, P.J. Byrne, Matt Gerald, Naomi Harris, Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, and Breanne Hill, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Johnson will play an animal-loving hero and the cities’ only hope .Oscar nominated actress, Naomi Harris co-stars as a geneticist; Shelton has been cast as a scientist, and Manganiello will play the leader of a private military group.
At the moment the plot is still being kept under wraps, but if the story follows the game’s plot, Revenge will feature monsters who attack US cities and landmarks, a monstrously transformed gorilla, a crocodile, and a wolf.
Johnson will be once again be working with the team behind Andreas, director Brad Peyton, and Beau Flynn, who will produce. The writers who are behind the adaptation includes Ryan Engle who penned the original script, Adam Sztykiel, Ryan Condal, and Carlton Cuse. Flynn will produce under his Flynn Picture Company banner with Wrigley Pictures’ John Rickard, and Hiram Garcia of Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production.
New Line has set April 20, 2018 as the release date for Rampage.
