One of the few, and I mean very few, remakes I’ve looked forward to seeing is director Marcel Walz’s Blood Fest, originally released in 1963 by H.G. Lewis. While the trailer for the revamped film was released last June, we’ve been waiting to learn of a theatrical release date.
Walz revealed to Shock Till You Drop that a distribution deal has been struck and Medallion Releasing will be unleashing Blood Feast in theaters on April 28, 2017.

Starring Robert Rusler, Caroline Williams, Sophie Monk, and Sadie Katz, the story centers on Fuad Ramses (Rusler) and his family who have moved from the US to France, where they run a diner. With business not going well, Fuad takes a second job as the night shift at a museum of ancient Egyptian culture. During the long, lonely nights, he finds himself drawn to an ancient statue of the goddess Ishtar (Katz). He becomes more and more drawn to her as she speaks to him in visions. Eventually he gives in to her deadly desires. Following the events of one special night, he begins a new life where murder and cannibalism are on the menu.  He starts to prepare for a ritual feast, filled with blood, organs, and human sacrifices, to honor his new mistress. He continues to slip further into madness, becoming Ishtar’s puppet. Her thirst for blood is growing and she now wants to have a taste of Fuad’s wife and daughter.

In an interview with Sadie Katz I learned some very interesting things about the film, some impressive and some things that happened behind the scenes that were downright funny. You can read the full interview here.

It was actually really, really wonderful. It’s unique and beautiful and disgusting.” Katz said.
