Shudder has officially greenlit the ninth installment of its legendary found-footage franchise, and this time, the nightmare comes with a killer soundtrack.

V/H/S/MIXTAPE is dropping exclusively on the horror streamer this October, pushing the series into uncharted, noise-drenched territory. Centered entirely around the sinister power of music, rhythm, and auditory obsession, the new anthology promises to weaponize sound to haunt, possess, and brutally dismantle audiences. Expect a chaotic mix of cosmic dread, as well as psychological mind games, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects designed to shatter your eardrums and your sanity.

Heavy Hitters Behind the Lens

The roster of directors for V/H/S/MIXTAPE brings an extraordinary mix of cinematic titans and visionary creative talent to the table. Horror veteran Ernest Dickerson, hip-hop icon RZA, and French filmmaker David Moreau are each helming original horror segments. Adding unique flair to the mix, acclaimed director Renee Zhan is crafting a segment featuring custom, terrifying practical puppets built by the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

Visual Chaos and Shock-Metal Icons

Refusing to stop at standard anthology storytelling, V/H/S/MIXTAPE is transforming its structural framework into a true genre-bending concept album. Renowned musician and filmmaker Flying Lotus is directing original music video interludes to stitch the madness together. At the same time, Ghost frontman Tobias Forge makes his directorial debut with a brand-new music video. And to top off the madness, shock-metal legends GWAR will make a special featured appearance, cementing the film as a glorious love letter to cult cinema, heavy riffs, and bloody chaos.

Following a Record-Breaking Legacy

Produced by franchise mainstays Josh Goldbloom, Steven Schneider, Roy Lee, Michael Schreiber, and Brad Miska. It is executive produced by Ben Ross and Rami Yassin.

It follows 2025’s critically acclaimed V/H/S/HALLOWEEN, which shattered records as the most-watched exclusive film premiere on Shudder and AMC+. V/H/S/MIXTAPE is set to drop right in the heart of spooky season on October 9. Genre fans had better prepare to turn the volume all the way up. Stay tuned for the trailer.
