A troubled teen is struggling to fight his homicidal tendencies, when he discovers a killer arrives in his small town. He must hunt down and destroy the killer while fighting his own urges in I AM Not a Serial Killer, directed by Billy O’Brien.
The film premiered earlier this year at SXSW and was then picked up by IFC Midnight. Now, a release date for the thriller has been set for this August. A New trailer and clip have also been released (below).
Written by O’Brien and Christopher Hyde, based on the novel by Dan Wells, I AM Not a Serial Killer stars Christopher Lloyd, Max Records, Laura Fraser, and Karl Geary, Dread Central reports.
Synopsis:
Sixteen-year old John Cleaver (Records) is dangerous and he knows it. He’s obssessed with serial killers, but really doesn’t want to become one. Terrible impulses constantly tempt him, so for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules to keep himself “good” and “normal”. However, when a real monster shows up in his town he has to let his dark side out in order to stop it – but without his rules to keep him in check, he might be more dangerous than the monster he’s trying to kill.
I AM Not a Serial Killer will open in select theaters, and arrive on VOD and on Digital HD on August 26th.
