The 1999 underdog hit ‘The Blair Witch Project’ broke new ground in the horror genre and brought “found footage” into the light. After one sequel and several documentaries, one documentary will be coming out later this year, ‘The Blair Witch Project’ still stands as a ground breaking film and now there is about to be a new addition to the franchise. Bloody-Disgusting announced that according to an insider at Lionsgate, a new movie is already in production.
The news won’t be a shock to Eduardo Sanches, the co-director of the original ‘The Blair Witch Project’. He made a statement in January that another sequel is “inevitable”. The rumor is Jessica Wu (You’re Next), Keith Cadler, Roy Lee (Poltergeist), and Steven Schneider (Inssidious) will be producing the new movie.
There is a chance that the movie the insider referred to is the movie ‘The Woods’, written by Simon Barrett. ‘The Woods’ follows a group of collage students who are camping in the woods before realizing that they’re not alone. According to my research the movie will be titled ‘Blair Witch 3: The Beginning’ , but I may be wrong. The truth is, there is no concrete information on the movie’s title and if it will be a prequel or sequel yet, but we will keep you posted as more information comes available.
