‘American Horror Story’ has taken us to the ‘Murder House’, ‘The Asylum’, ‘The Coven’, ‘The Freak Show’, ‘The Hotel’ and now to ‘Roanoke’. But what could be next? We will have to wait to find out. Luckily, news came today via FX that AHS has been renewed for season 7.

The cast for the series has included Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Lily Rabe, Denis O’Hare, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, Finn Wittrock, Zachary Quinto, Dylan McDermott, Naomi Grossman, Gabourey Sidibe, Michael Chiklis, Matt Bomer, and Cuba Gooding Jr., just to name a few.
This season is set in Roanoke and filmed like a paranormal reenactment show. Lily Rabe stars as the real Shelby, with Sarah Paulson acting out Shelby’s experiences. Shelby’s real husband, Matt, is played by Andre Holland and Cuba Gooding Jr. co-stars as Matt in the reenactment. Angela Bassett and Adina Porter play Lee, Matt’s sister who is living with the couple.

‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ is heavily influenced by real stories from history such as The Lost Colony of Roanoke, and the lesbian lovers who murdered their elderly patients and inspired the characters of the sister nurses. There sure to be other references to true stories, but we are only on the third episode and showrunner Ryan Murphy has done an incredible job of keeping things spoiler free. Kathy Bates fills the role of the leader of The Lost Colony.

‘American Horror Story’ has taken home 15 Emmys since the series debuted in 2011. Each week over 13 million viewers tune in and I don’t see that slowing down any time soon. I have a feeling ‘AHS’ will be sticking around for many seasons to come. I have to admit, up to this point ‘Coven’ was my favorite season, but ‘Roanoke’ is already running a close second. I look forward to seeing this season unfold. Be sure to catch ;American Horror Stories: Roanoke’ Wednesdays on FX.
