It won’t be long before Fox’s new series, ‘The Exorcist’, premieres. Today, we have the new preview for the series. “God Has Spoken” and if you fail to watch the promo, your soul may be damned forever.
The first thing you need to know is that the series is not a reboot of the brilliant 1973 film directed by William Friedkin. The series is set 40 years after the events in the original film. The show will however give the occasional nod to the film, including the occasional use of Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells”.
Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) is the new face of the Catholic Church. He is progressive, ambitious and compassionate, He runs a small but loyal parish in the suburbs of Chicago and his quiet life is about to change forever.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, another priest finds himself locked in a life or death struggle with evil. Father Marcus Brennan (Ben Daniels) is a modern-day Templar Knight. He was raised by the Vatican to wage war against its enemies. Father Brennan is everything Father Ortega is not: abrasive, relentless, and consumed by his sacred mission.
The Rance family, members of Father Ortega’s parish, appear to be a normal suburban family, but are not what they seem. Henry Rancy (Alan Ruck) is losing his mind, and his wife Angela (Geena Davis) is suffering from terrifying nightmares. Their oldest daughter Kathrine (Brianne Howey) has become withdrawn and refuses to leave her room and their youngest daughter, Casey (Hannah Kasulka) is hearing strange noises inside the walls. Believing that there is a demonic presence in her home, Angela turns to Father Ortega for help. But he can’t handle the situation alone. The two priests are brought together and may be the Rance family’s only hope.
Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Geena Davis (“Commander in Chief,” Thelma & Louise), Alfonso Herrera (“Sense 8,” The Chosen), Ben Daniels (“Flesh and Bone,” “House of Cards”) and Brianna Howey (Scream Queens) are all set to star.
‘The Exorcist’ premieres on Friday, September 23rd on Fox.
